NTHC Opens First of 10 Additional Fresh Produce Pantries in Tarrant County Thanks to ARPA Funding

North Texas Healthy Communities (NTHC) recently opened its 11th Good For You Pantry, which provides fresh fruits, vegetables and healthy staples at no cost to families in underserved areas of our community. NTHC is the outreach arm of Texas Health that implements Blue Zones Project and other well-being initiatives throughout Tarrant County. The pantries are located in schools and community centers, giving families easier access to fresh produce and nutrition resources, in a place that is both familiar and trusted. The newest pantry at Christene C. Moss Elementary is the first of ten new pantries on the horizon, thanks to a grant from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), with funds administered by Tarrant County. A total of 20 pantries will be in place before the end of year.

The Good For You Pantry program is just one way NTHC is partnering with schools and others to improve the health of students and families across the region. Read more here about future plans for the pantries and contact us at BlueZonesProject@TexasHealth.org for additional ways your organization can support childhood health and wellness.

A Marathon Champion and a Champion for Health and Fitness

February is Black History Month, the annual observance in the U.S. to honor the history and contributions of Black Americans. While we pay homage throughout the month to the many Black Americans who have played a significant role in our country’s past, we also like to recognize those in our own community who are working to improve health and well-being day in and day out. Meet Ricky Cox, a 3-time Cowtown Marathon winner and patriarch of Cox Racing Services, promoting running and fitness locally for over 40 years. Learn how improving health in Fort Worth and beyond is a family business.
