As you prepare to enter the New Year next week, the Board of Faith in Action encourages you to hold onto the spirit of giving into 2024! Here are a couple of projects that you can participate in while living into our FCC Mission to "welcome friend and stranger, celebrate all gifts, embrace the hurting, and labor with others to restore what is broken".

FCC's Board of Faith in Action is sponsoring a MLK Day of Service Project on Monday, January 15, 2024!

We will be creating and delivering 110 Kindness Kits for the residents of Bria Nursing Home in Chicago Heights.

FCC Micro Pantry

FCC has a new Micro Pantry on the east side of Community House!  A Micro-Pantry is a small outdoor cabinet that allows people to anonymously receive donations from FCC and the community. The free, 24/7 donation center offers people anything from canned food, toiletries, diapers, non-perishables, and more. On your next grocery trip, consider picking up items to add to the pantry and spread the word!

Donations accepted

  • Canned food items (soup, veggies, fruit, canned meat, etc.)
  • Toiletries (band-aids, shampoo, soap, toilet paper, etc.)
  • Dinner sides (pasta, rice, stuffing, mashed potatoes, etc.)
  • Baby items (formula, diapers, baby food, baby snacks, etc.)
  • Snacks! (Pop tarts, chips, pretzels, candy, crackers, etc.)

PLEASE DO NOT DROP OFF EXPIRED OR PERISHABLE ITEMS!

We close by sharing with you the Purpose and Intent of Faith in Action.

The purpose of the Board of Faith in Action (FIA) is to support outreach efforts and encourage and equip congregants for service outside church walls. Through service, we can inspire hope, strengthen relationships, and transform communities. The role of the members of the Board of Faith in Action is to discern between betterment (charity) and development (the path to self-sufficiency) and mindfully consider next steps.

The intent of the Board of Faith in Action is to

  • Provide opportunities for hands-on outreach that inspire and connect individuals to meaningful service
  • Pursue intentional efforts to build partnerships with communities in need
  • Provide emergency response to individuals, families, or communities in crisis
  • Continue to offer funding, grants, and special disbursements that align with the purpose of the FIA
  • Seek to right injustice through discussion, dialogue, support, and action
