PENT-UP DEMAND WILL BOOST TOURISM'S SUMMER REBOUND

About ready for some good news? Summer is here! Throughout the nation and across the state, Americans are more eager than ever to stretch their legs, hit the road, and begin to leave the past two years behind them.

In a way, we’re all at a hopeful inflection point: Our pent-up readiness to explore is coinciding nicely with relaxed pandemic restrictions and the imminent arrival of prime travel season. Read more >

A quick Delaware “stay-cation” can do wonders for the soul, and so many great destinations lie within easy reach:

Delawareans would be amazed by the spectacle of the towering bald cypress trees that rise from waters of Trap Pond State Park, a perfect spot for a kayak adventure.

The hottest museum tickets of the season are at the Delaware Art Museum and Winterthur.

The newly renamed and reopened Museum of Nature & Science has immersive, interactive, family-friendly new exhibits.

The Playhouse on Rodney Square, Wilmington’s historic “off-Broadway” theatre, has just received a big renovation, and is once again staging big shows.

The high-profile PGA BMW Championship is coming to Wilmington Country Club on August 16 - 21.

The Delaware Tourism Office has a lineup of easy-to-follow “trails”:

• The DE on Tap app guides craft beverage fans to the state’s top breweries, wineries, and distilleries.

• The newly refreshed Delaware History Trail focuses on experiences that bring history to life.

• The Delaware Discoveries Trail lets travelers explore the state by visiting “Insta-worthy” interactive street artwork sprinkled around the state.

of Wyoming in Kent County for a day the entire family will enjoy. Visit Fifer Orchards for a taste of farm life. The Gilman Bowl was established as a tribute to small business leadership. It is named in memory of Marvin S. Gilman, who served as an exemplary leader and a paragon of small business in Delaware. The identity of the recipient of the Gilman Bowl is held confidential until its presentation at the Superstars in Business awards luncheon on November 2.

President's Message

The economy is in a muddled place right now and not much seems to make sense. On Saturday afternoon, I was at Christiana Mall and the number of visitors was significant. On Sunday, I decided to play nine holes of golf in the late afternoon and upon arriving at a local club at 3:00 pm, I was told they were booked until 5:10 pm!
