Canoe Journey

In early August, the Puyallup Canoe Family hosted the Puyallup Tribe Local Canoe Journey. This event was open to the community, and many were guided on the sacred water in the canoe as they traveled to Lake St. Clair Olympia for cold water training to promote safety to kick off the week. Other stops included Vashon Island for clam digging and the canoe families ended the week at the Canoe Landing Site, dxʷłalilali, for a clam boil and coastal jam.

First Salmon Opener

On Sunday, August 7, Tribal Members came to the banks of the Puyallup River to get their cut of salmon returning home. A six-hour fishing window from just 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. allows Tribal Members the opportunity to get their boats and gill nets back out on the water to exercise their inherent treaty rights to fish.

Tribe Awards Over $400,000 to charites

The Puyallup Tribal Council congratulated the August, 2022 recipients at the Charity Trust Board Check Distribution event on Aug. 18. Thank you to all those who attended.
