LOON: What are you looking forward to in LOON’s upcoming production of La Bohème?
LS: I am looking forward to working with everyone again. The chorus was truly fabulous in Cavalleria Rusticana and I can't wait to see the vibrant world they create for Act II of La Bohème.
LOON: Why do you think this opera continues to resonate with audiences year after year?
VF: The MUSIC is glorious - thrilling, fun, devastating, electric, gorgeous…the kind of music I want to hear and sing! The CHARACTERS are so real – kind, gentle, spunky, generous, quiet, loud, saucy, frustrating – they’re the kind of people I’d want to hang out with! They have flaws, strengths, gifts, and struggles - just like everyone, everywhere.
LS: Puccini! The operas are short and sweet and the characters are relatable. While we may not get a lot of background information about these characters or what happens between the acts, it's all there in the music. This is music that makes you feel!
LOON: If someone has never seen this opera what should they know before they go?
VF: Bohème was the first opera I saw live – I was hooked from those very first brilliant octaves in the orchestra - my heart races every single time I hear those four notes! The whole thing is goosebumpy and thrilling.
Come and hear Lacy, Vicki and the rest of the La Bohème company in a beautiful new production on June 14 and 16, 2024. Tickets are available now at loonopera.org
