Last week, Funders for LGBTQ Issues released our new three year strategy. This strategy represents the collective vision and brilliance of Funders for LGBTQ Issues' staff, board, members, stakeholders and wider community. We are in a moment of transformation and we know that we have the resources and capacity to realize our vision of a world where all queer, trans, and gender nonconforming people are liberated, loved, valued, respected, and thriving.
We are excited to bring the next iteration of Funders for LGBTQ Issues to life, in partnership with you.

In 2024, Funders for LGBTQ Issues is committed to launching an affinity group for LGBTQ-identified folks working in philanthropy. This space is open to individuals working at member and nonmember institutions. We hope to meet quarterly. You can express interest in joining this space by filling out the form here.
We envision this space as a space for peer support, network building, and emergent conversations on sector-wide news. If you'd like to help inform the goals and structure of this space, please express interest in joining our advisory council when you fill out the form.

Introducing the Next Co-Directors of Third Wave Fund | |
After a several month-long, nationwide search, our partners at Third Wave Fund announced their next leaders this week. Co-Directors Morgan (Mo) Willis and MARS. Marshall started in their new roles on January 9th and will continue the transformative leadership and values-aligned stewardship of Third Wave's resourcing work.

Sign Up for the 2024 DAPP Survey and Report | |
The DAPP Survey and Report aim to help the philanthropic community better understand its workforce and leadership. The survey is unique in soliciting anonymous self-reported information from individuals on the staff and board of participating foundations, helping grantmakers to accurately assess the culture and climate of their institutions. Drawing on the survey findings, the DAPP Report—a landmark tool for analyzing the philanthropic sector’s ongoing commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts— is created providing a temperature gauge for the sector's progress toward inclusion.

Trans Justice Funding Project Applications Due February 15th | Applications for Trans Justice Funding Project’s 2024 grant cycle will open on Monday, December 18th! The fund supports U.S.-based grassroots, trans justice group run by and for trans people, with budgets less than $250,000. Application deadline February 15, 2024. Learn more and apply. | | | |
Omidyar Network Launches "Cultivating Repair" with call for nominations |
Omidyar Network is excited to open nominations for The Cultivating Repair Catalyst Initiative (a fiscally sponsored project of Amalgamated Foundation). The heart of this initiative is a participatory learning cohort made up of organizations at the forefront of practicing repair for harms stemming from colonialism and slavery in the United States. Organizations selected to take part in the cohort will receive $100,000 in unrestricted grant support, a $10,000 wellness stipend, and cohort-driven technical assistance.
501(c)(3) organizations operating for less than five years or with annual budgets under $2 million dollars and federally recognized tribes eligible for nomination through February 1, 2024. Learn more.

Fund for Trans Generations Re-Opens Their Rapid Response Fund for Trans-Led Organizing | Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis, and funding prioritizes organizations and fiscally sponsored projects based in trans communities that are facing high levels of hard and who have limited accesss to foundation support. Article— Rising voices, Unifying forces: Two Trans-led Organizations will Merge to Confront a New Era of Attacks
In this special report penned by Andy Marra (TLDEF) and Rodrigo Heng-Lehtinen (NCTE), the pair announce their decision to merge their two organization to create Advocates for Trans Equality (A4TE). A merger about galvanizing our advocacy power on behalf of trans people, marshaling our diverse strengths, and ensuring trans people have a real opportunity to participate and succeed in American life.
Board Service: Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice
The Astraea Foundation is seeking 2-3 board members with financial, non-profit law, and/or racial equity expertise. The Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice is the only philanthropic organization working exclusively to advance LGBTQI+ human rights around the globe. They support brilliant and brave grantee partners in the U.S. and internationally who challenge oppression and seed change. Applications due February 26th.
Proteus Fund Launches the Solidarity Collaborative
On January 18, Proteus Fund launched the Solidarity Collaborative. The Solidarity Collaborative will support intersectional solidarity between organizations and communities working towards racial justice through dedicated grantmaking and programming support. Learn more.
