Research, Resources, and Updates
  • Funders Concerned About AIDS (FCAA) released its 15th annual Philanthropic Support to Address HIV/AIDS report, finding that HIV/AIDS philanthropic disbursements increased 2% in 2016, representing the third consecutive year of growth and reaching an all time high of $680 million.
  • HRFN, Foundation Center, Ariadne, and Prospera released the latest research on global human rights funding. The Advancing Human Rights Research Hub breaks funding down by region, issue, population, and strategy supported.
  • As communities around the country honored trans awareness week in November, MAP released a new infographic to explain trans student's standing under Title IX of the Federal Civil Rights Act.
  • MAP is leading the Open to All campaign, a national campaign featuring a broad coalition of LGBT, civil rights, racial justice, and allied organizations, who are all focusing attention on the far-reaching risks of the Masterpiece Cakeshop vs. Colorado Civil Rights Commission case.

  • PFund 2017-2018 Scholarships for LGBTQ Leaders

    PFund Foundation announces the opening of the 2017-2018 Scholarships for LGBTQ Leaders. Scholarships are awarded to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and allied individuals for their commitment to leadership within their communities. Applications must be submitted by Monday, Jan. 15, 2018.
  • 2017/2018 Soros Equality Fellowship supports individuals creating innovative projects to advance racial equity in the United States. The fellowship is seeking applicants from a diverse spectrum of disciplines and career paths, including but not limited to; the arts, law, organizing, journalism, etc. Selected individuals will receive an 18-month grant of $100,000 to support their work and will participate in a growing network of fellows through convenings and leadership trainings. Letters of Inquiry (LOI) are due by December 20, 2017 (11:59 p.m. EST)
Recent Grants Awarded
  • Groundswell Fund Announces Birth Justice and Liberation Fund Grants

    Groundswell's Birth Justice Fund announced its 2017 grantees who received nearly $500,000 to support efforts to expand care, including increasing access to culturally competent birthing options provided by midwives, doulas, and other birth workers of color. Additionally, Groundswell announced $1.35 million in grants from the Liberation fund to boost grassroots organizing led by women of color and transgender people of color.
  • Pride Foundation Announces Community Grant Awards

    Pride Foundation announced $507,000 in grants to 81 organizations in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington working to ensure that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) people and their families can live fully and safely in their home communities. This year's award amount is the highest Community Grants funding total in Pride Foundation history.
  • Southern HIV Impact Fund Announces $2.65 Million In Initial Investments

    The Southern HIV Impact Fund - a collaboration between Gilead Sciences, Ford Foundation, Elton John AIDS Foundation, ViiV Healthcare, and Johnson & Johnson - to stop the persistent and worsening impact of the epidemic on the region announced initial investments of $2.65 million in support of 37 organizations in nine states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.
