Environment Rating Scales (ERS)
|
|
What does your circle time look like? Are all of the children engaged and participating in the activities? Or do you find that you spend most of circle time corralling children back to the area?
Circle time is such an important part of the day: it can nurture social-emotional development, promote unity amongst peers, give children a chance to practice turn-taking skills, along with a host of other benefits. But it can be tricky to "run" an engaging circle time.
Let's Talk Quality! has this great resource on planning and implementing a circle time. They recommend remembering the acronym C.A.V.E.:
-
C: Content
-
A: Active Participation
-
V: Variety
-
E: Excitement

Positive Solutions for Families
|
|
It can be a challenge supporting young children with challenging behaviors in the classroom. And if a child is having difficulties in the classroom, there's a high chance they are also experiencing challenges at home. It is not uncommon for parents of young children to struggle with their child's behavior at some point.
The National Center for Pyramid Model Innovations has this handy tip sheet to share with families. It offers eight (8) strategies that parents can implement with their young child at home
