We discuss the best collection practices to help avoid sample failure and testing delays. We review chain of custody forms, sample envelopes, and required sample documentation which can aid clients to steer clear of common submission errors. We provide insight into the best ways to collect a sample as to avoid partial profiles, failed samples, mixtures, and sample swaps. We also touch base on proper shipping techniques and storage conditions.

Meet Our New Lab Director |
Dr. Valerie Mattimore Fuller joined DNA Solutions in January 2023 and has over 25 years of experience working in the forensic industry. Her experience includes overseeing the implementation and process of the DNA Testing Unit with the Tulsa Police Department and has served as a contractor, mentor, and expert manager of multi-disciplinary forensic and medico-legal accredited laboratories.
Dr. Mattimore specializes in validation and optimization of process-flows and associated risks, and has worked within the U.S., Algeria, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Egypt, Iraq, Mexico, Nepal, Nigeria, Panama, Philippines, Saint Lucia, Somalia, and the Ukraine. She received her bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Tulsa, OK and her PhD in Microbiology and Biochemistry/Nuclear Science from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA.
