An Evening With Senator Mike Braun to Highlight a Strong Second Half of 2019
The IHEN Board has made an intentional effort in 2019 to offer education sessions across Indiana and also to invest in our early careerists. We have heard your feedback through our Member Survey on both topics and have responded accordingly. We are halfway through 2019 and we have already offered education sessions across the state in Ft. Wayne, Hammond, Carmel, and French Lick. There have also been intentional investments in our early careerist group through the launch of our mentoring program and multiple networking opportunities.
We are pleased to announce programming plans for a strong second half of 2019. We will partner again this year with Heapy Engineering on the Indiana Innovation and High Performance Summit on July 24. Indiana continues to see multiple healthcare construction projects and we are pleased to partner on this multidisciplinary summit for healthcare leaders, architects, and engineers. Registration is currently open for this event
register here.
We are honored to host Senator Mike Braun in September during our Annual Awards Dinner. We will recognize accomplishments from the past year and also hear from Senator Braun. We will then have a facilitated discussion between Senator Braun and some Indiana healthcare senior leaders on how we all as leaders can and should influence policy. Registration will open soon for this event.
We appreciate your feedback and are continuing to look at ways to serve you and add value to your membership. Please contact us if you have any other recommendations or if you are looking to get more involved.
We hope to see you at a future event!

An Important Tool to Combat Health Care’s Cybersecurity Crisis
Reena Bajowala
Health care organizations are facing a cybersecurity crisis.
Health care organizations may assume that having a HIPAA Security Rule framework in place means they have appropriately managed their cybersecurity risk, but applying a proactive approach is the best way to reduce the legal exposure and manage the reputational impact that comes with a cybersecurity incident. The most effective proactive measure, however, is often overlooked. That is the tabletop exercise. This article will explain what occurs during a tabletop exercise, discuss the benefits of conducting such an exercise and provide some practical tips to maximize the effectiveness of a tabletop exercise.

Public-Private Partnerships in Health Care: Risks & Rewards of an Important Emerging Trend
Sujata Barai Chugh
Public-private partnerships, or “P3s” in common parlance, are relatively new tools for U.S. health care but have been mainstays in the health care ecosystem of several other countries for many years—most notably, our neighbor to the north, Canada, but also in Great Britain, Australia and parts of Africa. In the U.S., increasingly difficult public budget constraints are coupled with growing demand for technology-driven services, framed against a backdrop of growing chronic and complex care needs. Our system is ripe for alternative financing, delivery and management models for health care.

ACHE Recognition Program
It might be time to familiarize yourself with the ACHE Recognition Program. The ACHE Recognition Program celebrates members' commitment to the healthcare management profession. Recognition is bestowed at three levels, based on a range of specific volunteer activities that demonstrate leadership and contributions to furthering professional excellence. All active ACHE members are eligible to be recognized.
The ACHE Recognition Program is based on points accrued through volunteer activities performed in a convocation year (April–March). Points accrue for members beginning with the 2003–2004 convocation year and are cumulative from year to year. A member does not need to achieve a set number of points in a single year, but rather will build over time. In that manner, members have the opportunity to progress through the three award levels.
Awardees will be acknowledged at their local ACHE chapter, with each chapter determining an appropriate time for the annual award ceremonies. Find out more
