Wanting to continue to keep engage within the limits and limitations we are having to live with right now continues to push us to be more creative with how we do that.
In Q3 2020, we were able to kick off our SOUL Veterans Program with an inspiring interview with honored guest (and our SOUL volunteer), United States Air Force Pilot, Lt. Colonel Gina Stramaglio. We have also been offering visits thru Zoom, Facebook Live and limited in person (weather permitting) as well as have training and host a Volunteer recruitment session. We are not reaching who we did on the past but fortunate enough to be able to do what we are doing.
If you ever met our sweet girl Mystery, you are not surprised to hear that the Washington International Horse Show announced her to be their 2020 WIHS Honor and Service Award. We were not able to make a road trip with her to receive the award at the world renowned horse show, but happy for her to be immortalized in their Horse Hall of Fame, receive a wonderful commemorative gift as well as be the recipient of a monetary grant. Check out the press release below. Way to go Mystery!!
We also were able to have our ribbon cutting ceremony with the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce on 9/10/20. Wasn't exactly what we had planned and the weather did not cooperate BUT our barn was able to take care of the guests we had with no problem. We think everyone enjoyed themselves and loved seeing our herd at their wonderful home. Looking forward to when we can host more events at the barn.
WGN paid us a couple visits and even came out to accompany the SOUL Buddies Club as they visited Alden Estates of Barrington. There we had our horses as well as our dog teams visiting with the residents outside of the room windows. Make sure you take a peak at that link below to see how we can still be touching the lives of those in our community.
In trying new ways to raise money, we raffled off a grill donated by Crystal Lake Home Depot and raised almost $1,000. Keep an eye for some upcoming raffles as well. The lucky winner was local and so excited to not only pick up her new grill just in time for Labor Day but also meet our wonderful herd.
We are so glad we can continue to share the herd and their healing with you. Please take a peak below of what else we have been up to and ways you can help.
