Q3 2020
SOUL Happenings
Our mission is to enrich lives by promoting the unconditional love and healing of the human-animal bond while advocating for animal therapy standards of excellence.
Wanting to continue to keep engage within the limits and limitations we are having to live with right now continues to push us to be more creative with how we do that.

In Q3 2020, we were able to kick off our SOUL Veterans Program with an inspiring interview with honored guest (and our SOUL volunteer), United States Air Force Pilot, Lt. Colonel Gina Stramaglio. We have also been offering visits thru Zoom, Facebook Live and limited in person (weather permitting) as well as have training and host a Volunteer recruitment session. We are not reaching who we did on the past but fortunate enough to be able to do what we are doing.

If you ever met our sweet girl Mystery, you are not surprised to hear that the Washington International Horse Show announced her to be their 2020 WIHS Honor and Service Award. We were not able to make a road trip with her to receive the award at the world renowned horse show, but happy for her to be immortalized in their Horse Hall of Fame, receive a wonderful commemorative gift as well as be the recipient of a monetary grant. Check out the press release below. Way to go Mystery!!

We also were able to have our ribbon cutting ceremony with the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce on 9/10/20. Wasn't exactly what we had planned and the weather did not cooperate BUT our barn was able to take care of the guests we had with no problem. We think everyone enjoyed themselves and loved seeing our herd at their wonderful home. Looking forward to when we can host more events at the barn.

WGN paid us a couple visits and even came out to accompany the SOUL Buddies Club as they visited Alden Estates of Barrington. There we had our horses as well as our dog teams visiting with the residents outside of the room windows. Make sure you take a peak at that link below to see how we can still be touching the lives of those in our community.

In trying new ways to raise money, we raffled off a grill donated by Crystal Lake Home Depot and raised almost $1,000. Keep an eye for some upcoming raffles as well. The lucky winner was local and so excited to not only pick up her new grill just in time for Labor Day but also meet our wonderful herd.

We are so glad we can continue to share the herd and their healing with you. Please take a peak below of what else we have been up to and ways you can help.

Our Volunteers
We can not thank our volunteers enough. Not only do they help around the barn, train our horses/dogs but also help us participate in community events such as the Barrington Scarecrow contest.

You could find our "selfie" picture taking handler with a horse and dog in front of the Catlow Theatre in Downtown Barrington.

Registered therapy dog Baron sure enjoyed visiting them as well as hundreds of other people as well.

We also were able to host a Pet Partners testing where 7 new teams became registered handlers.
Service Spotlight
We are excited to announce our new 2020 program, the “SOUL Veterans Animal Therapy Troops.” This new and impactful program for veterans and active military families kicked off on September 27th, 2020 as we welcomed our very special guest (and our SOUL volunteer!) United States Air Force pilot, Lt. Colonel Gina Stramaglio.

The program meets monthly on the 4th weekend of every month, dubbed “Veterans Weekend at the Ranch.” #soulveterans.

Thanks to the Barrington Area Community Foundation for choosing our nonprofit to support our SOUL Veterans Program.

PLEASE RSVP to soulharbourranchatp@gmail.com if you would like to attend the remaining 2020 visits on Sunday 11/29 and 12/27. Due to covid restrictions, we may be conducting visits virtually.
Thank you to some special friends!
Sending a huge thank you to our talented friend Kerri Weiss of Weiss on Location Photography (click here) for donating 50% of each session back to our nonprofit as well as taking headshots of our herd.

DECEMBER 1, 2020
#GivingTuesday is a day to inspire generosity and to generously share whatever you can with the many nonprofits, like ours, whose mission you support!

We will post a Facebook link to donate on 12/1/20 (there is also a link on our website).

***For every donation with a $50 minimum, we will send you a striped gray winter hat with our SOUL Veterans Animal Therapy Troops logo OR you can choose to donate the hat to a veteran who attends our monthly program (just let us know via email after you donate). We have a lofty fundraising goal of $5,000 that will help with program and operational costs, and we know we can reach that with everyone’s support and SOUL: Sharing of Unconditional Love!

SOUL Harbour Ranch Animal Therapy Program does not charge for visits and is funded solely through the generosity of donations, sponsorship and grants. We have put together sponsorship and donation opportunities to meet any budget. Just click here to see available opportunities.

Through your generosity and support, we can continue to share the unconditional love of our special animals. Thank you from the bottom of our SOULS!

We are happy to provide a receipt for your donation upon request.
