CAMP FIRE ALASKA'S NEWSLETTER

Back to School

We’re almost into the third month of being back to school! The summer came to a close and we had a smooth transition into School Age Program picking back up again. There is so much planned at Camp Fire for this 2023/2024 school year & we can’t wait to create new memories with all of our families and youth.

Bonfire Campaign Results

Our first ever Bonfire Store was a success! This summer, 42 items were purchased, raising more than $300 for summer camp scholarships.

Our CEO's Fellowship

Camp Fire family, we’ve got some exciting news to share that will surely light up your day. Our very own CEO, Mel Hooper, has been chosen as a distinguished participant in the 2023-2024 White-Riley-Peterson (WRP) Policy Fellowship.

Our Lil’ Farmer’s Market

Our Camp Fire Alaska Farmer's Market was a hit once again! This year's market included everything from currants to eggs, indoor plant cuttings, baked goods, fresh vegetables, and even local honey. We love how creative our staff is and are always excited to see the gifts they contribute to the market each year. The market raises important funds for our annual United Way campaign and this year more than $1500 was raised!

Rice Krispie Day

Did you know September 18th is a Camp Fire holiday? Oh yeah! Rice Krispie Day!

We held our ??th Annual Rice Krispie Day Bake-Off (because at this point, it’s just a time old tradition!)

We may have only had one entry…but WOW was it one of the best creations we’ve ever tasted! Congrats to our winner, Maddie, our Development Coordinator! Even though our entry turnout was low, we had over 20 voters. Now, on to getting those 20 voters to become entries next year…

Camp Si-La-Meo Name Change Update

We’re in the final stages of renaming Camp Si-La-Meo and will have a name to announce this upcoming month!

Don’t remember hearing about this change? Take a look at this blog all about it!

One of Camp Fire National’s five interwoven strategic commitments is addressing and ending cultural appropriation.
