What is an Open Space Conference?

In an Open Space Conference, the participants create and manage their own agenda of parallel working sessions around a central theme of strategic importance. Every issue of any importance, to any person willing to take some responsibility for it, gets posted on the community bulletin board on the Marketplace wall. As work on those issues progresses, notes and other products get posted as well. The QA ATL Conference's theme is Software Quality Assurance.

Open Space has Four Rules and One Law (the Law of Two Feet)
The Four Rules state:
  • Whoever come are the right people
  • Whatever happens is the only thing that could have
  • Whenever it starts is the right time
  • When it's over, it's over
The Law of Two Feet states that:
"If, during the course of the gathering, any person finds themselves in a situation where they are neither learning nor contributing, they can go to some more productive place."

See
