January 2020
FROM OUR PRESIDENT
Guild Members,

Let's make  2020 the year of ACCOMPLISHMENT .

With courage we can do anything. Community Service just received a wonderful grant to continue with their accomplishments; Quilt Trail 2020 is coming up in March, and I hope this will become an annual "show" for our guild in partnership with the Alachua County Library District. That will be an accomplishment, too!

And don't forget all those UFOs that we all we get finished, right? ACCOMPLISHED (We can hope, at least). We can do this together.

Community Service Bee
The Community Service Bee rang out the old year on a high note, when Carol Wilkerson reported, " This morning, a member of the St. Elizabeth Guild of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church notified me that our grant had been awarded . . . for more than we requested! She gave me (us) a check for $500. That's great news!"

As always, the Community Service Bee will transform that check into supplies to create even more quilts, totes and other goodies for our neighbors in need. We are all grateful to the members of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church!

The Community Service Bee members ask, “Are you ready for some football?” Mark your calendars now for a workday on Thurs., Jan. 30, 2020, from 9 am to 3 pm. Bring your lunch and join us as we make pillowcases and totes from NFL team fabric. You can bring your machine to sew, bring your tools to help cut fabric or make ready-to-go kits. The patterns are easy, and it’s always fun when this group gets together!

Fabric Donations: Is your New Year’s Resolution to trim down your stash? The Community Service Bee is ready to help! We can use donations of fabric of at least a quarter yard, and we always need large pieces for quilt backing. At this point in time we especially need donations of quilt fabric appropriate for adolescents, seniors, men and boys.

WAYS & MEANS
2020 Library Trail

Looking ahead, please be thinking about what quilts you would like to exhibit in the 2020 Quilt Trail next March. We are going to have so much space to fill with almost all the libraries participating.

We especially need vintage quilts. Not sure how to define a vintage quilt, but we all know one when we see it, right? If you have a vintage quilt, please contact me or Helene Rhine with dimensions, name of quilter (if known, and it does not need to be you) as well as any other pertinent information you would like to have included in a handout we are going to be compiling in lieu of individual labels.

Hoping to have more red party people from our August Program too. Feel free to contact me, and please participate as this is a county-wide exhibit to show off our shared passion. Find more information at qacdg.org.

If you have a quilt to contribute, please download and sign the waiver form on our website,
