Free Bulb Workshop: Sun. Oct. 13 @ 11:15 AM
Fall is for planting! The Green Team invites you to participate in a bulb workshop on Sunday, October 13 following the second service meeting in the Battin room. We are using the same model as we did for the spring workshops. There is no cost for this workshop and no RSVP is required. The workshop will share information on how bulbs grow and how to have success with them in your garden. Each participant will be receiving bulbs for home use as this is the best time of year to plant hardy bulbs. Spring bulbs not only bring promises of spring but their flowers provide food for pollinators early in the season.
Bulb Planting: Sat. Oct. 26
Have you seen the St. John’s River? Me either; but, God willing, a river of crocus will rise in the spring and if you are willing to help plant it! There are 1000 bulbs waiting for a few, or a dozen fun folks to show up on Saturday, October 26, to plant a river of pink that will flow down the front lawn from church towards Concord Road. Ask a GT member. Details to follow.

Welcoming One Another
"Welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God."| Romans 15:7
Many folks can sympathize with the sentiment, "I'm bad at remembering names, but good at remembering faces." People tend to be good at recognizing the unique combination of physical attributes that come together in the person standing before you...and yet, find it extremely difficult to remember the random collection of syllables that form that person's name. And when you are in a polite social situation - like Coffee Hour - we often feel awkward at not remembering the name of someone we had a lovely conversation with the previous Sunday. Sometimes, to avoid feeling embarrassed, we actually avoid being with that person again!
This is one reason that we are urging everyone to wear a name tag when you are at St. John's! Whether you've been a member for five decades or five weeks, there are plenty of folks who may not know or remember who you are. Please find your name tag on the table at the front of the Parish Hall and wear it when you are at St. John's. You can choose to keep your name tag with you (in your purse or in your car), or before heading home you can place your name tag in a basket to be sorted for the next Sunday. If you are new to St. John's, please take a blank name tag and write your name with dry erase marker; we'll be sure to have a labeled name tag for you next Sunday.
Let's ensure that St. John's is a welcoming place where everybody knows your name!

WE BELIEVE: Exploring our Episcopal Faith Sunday evenings at 6pm beginning October 13th
The former Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church, Bishop Michael Curry liked to call us "The Episcopal Branch of the Jesus Movement."
Whether you grew up Catholic or worshiped in a store-front church, we are all part of the Jesus Movement. A movement, something that started long ago and continues today; a movement that brings us together, a movement that pushes us out into the world to be with people who make us uncomfortable, to be with people who help us to grow into the people God longs for us to be.
This Fall, Rev. Jill and Rev. Terry offer a class for folks who want to learn more about the Episcopal Branch of the Jesus Movement. This class is excellent preparation for those who would like to receive the sacrament of Confirmation or be ‘received’ as a full member in the Episcopal Church.
