Holiday Social
Saturday, December 4, 2021
Governor's Mansion Historic District
|
|
This winter we are planning a special holiday social for December 4, 2021. We will divide up into groups and visit three historic houses, decorated for the season. Each stop on this holly jolly celebration will have cocktails and appetizers. At the end of the evening, after everyone has visited all three sites, we will gather back together at the Governor's Mansion for live entertainment by Rodney Block, and to sip champagne, enjoy dessert and have an opportunity to bid on one of a kind pieces by local artists in a silent auction. Each attendee will receive a special keepsake to commemorate the night. Keep an eye out for more information. Tickets will be $100 per person.

Long-time preservationist and QQA supporter, Lenora Hinson Blaylock Steinkamp, passed away on September 17, 2021. Her funeral service took place on September 24, 2021 at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.
Lenora was born September 4, 1949 to Elbert Oren Hinson and Carlene Hinson of Little Rock. She graduated from Hall High School. She earned a BA from the University of Arkansas and a MA from the University of Central Arkansas. She had several careers, including teaching for over 30 years in Little Rock and Washington, D.C. She also worked in catering, food styling, and real estate. She served as a demonstration teacher when kindergarten was started in the Little Rock School district, and according to her obituary “she taught over six hundred children and tied over 10,000 shoelaces.”
After her first husband passed away in 1986, Lenora married Richard Steinkamp. They moved to Washington, D.C. with the Clinton Administration. When they retired, they returned to Little Rock. There, Lenora was active on the vestry for Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, the Mount Holly Cemetery board, the Aesthetic Club, and book clubs. She loved to throw dinner parties for friends.
She is first mentioned in the QQA Chronicle in 1975, after she purchased the Gibb House at 1801 S. Arch Street with her first husband, Wallace Blaylock. This home was part of the Tour of Homes in 1977 and again in 1979. Lenora was involved in the rehabilitation of several historic houses and most recently chaired the 2019 QQA Tour of Homes Candlelight Dinner.
Lenora is survived by her husband, Richard Steinkamp, her sons Jordan David (Sarah) and Zachary Wallace (Chelsea) Blaylock, and her sister Sherry Brickey. Other survivors are two stepdaughters Alison (Kevin) Welch and their children Sophie and Benjamin and Kristin Shivley (Sean) and her four sons. Memorials may be made to The Mount Holly Cemetery Association, P. O. Box 250118, Little Rock, AR 72225.
