Physical Examinations
Comprehensive Physical Exams, also referred to as 'A-Physicals' are head to toe examinations that are conducted to ensure the medical qualification of Service Members based on Service Component guidance. A-Physicals should not be confused with Periodic Health Assessments (DD3024)
A-Physicals for RHRP are medical examinations conducted to ensure Service Members meet the medical and readiness standards required for their military duties. A-Physicals are typically conducted for:
- Military separation
- Retirement
- Retention
- Commission
- Accession
These exams require:

Comprehensive Medical Review: Evaluation of Service Members overall health, including review of medical history and current health status (DD2807)

Physical Assessment: Hands on examination of body systems, such as cardiovascular, respiratory, musculoskeletal, and neurological. (DD2808)

Vitals and Exam Specific Tests: Measurement of height, weight, and blood pressure are taken at each visit as well as any required labs. Depending on age, gender, and military requirements, screenings for vision, hearing and other specific conditions may be included.
