Our students aren't sure when they will be back and for most of us, we didn't get to tell them goodbye. Given the severity of COVID-19, people with disabilities and chronic health conditions are some of the most at risk populations. While staying home, practicing social distancing and good hygiene are of upmost importance it is also imperative that we stay active through exercise options at home. Exercise can help boost immunity and keep us in good physical and mental health. The National Center on Health, Physical Activity and Disability (NCHPAD) has curated a playlist of the top exercise from home videos on their YouTube channel for kids and adults. The playlist includes 32 options for all abilities to choose an exercise mode that works and is enjoyable to them. Get ready, set and move ->

oga has become a popular and beneficial activity for all ages and for good reason. For kids with a disability yoga can help them breathe deeper, concentrate longer, and increase their self- confidence. In this

, you can see how yoga can be adapted for kids of all abilities. Watch as each move is demonstrated by a single individual and how that move might play out in a class setting. Yoga should always be viewed as an individual practice. The way one child may be able to demonstrate a pose may look completely different from another child. Hi Parents and Professionals,
Over the past few days, I have been receiving emails about E-Learning resources in physical education in response to COVID-19. Unfortunately, many resources are not including those with autism or related disabilities.
Your children's or the students' sensory needs do not stop when they get home. And during what could be, or already has been, an abrupt change in their routine will likely cause much anxiety and stress. They will need a way to calm their bodies, reduce any anxiety, and still meet recommended physical activity requirements. ExerciseBuddy can be an important tool to help meet your child and students' needs.
Parents, even just 10-minutes of exercise has proven benefits for those with autism - specifically reducing echolalia and hand-flapping.
Also, exercise is shown to reduce maladaptive behaviors and improve on-task behavior.

to get families moving together. The idea is that you would cut out each tip and place them in a bag or jar. Then every evening, the children would draw an activity from the bag or jar and that would be the family’s activity the next evening.
