Golf Tournament, June 14

Thanks to one of our directors, Carole Moreau (Empire), our association got the opportunity to play on the excellent Islesmere golf club. More than 80 members battled light showers that turned a few away.
As is our custom, we had a draw that resulted in Pat Quicquaro (Plomberie PMF) and Sylvain Denis (Deschênes et Fils) receiving a $290 income tax receipt each while Habitat for Humanity received a $1,160 donation.
In order to shore up our relations with partner associations, we invited representatives of ASPE Montréal and the CMMTQ. Representatives from ASPE Montréal joined us for the event and we got a chance to discuss the different challenges facing our industry.
At the dinner. President Denis Montour (Uponor) was happy to announce the hiring of 40 new building inspectors, an issue we have spearheaded for many years.

Retirement of Richard Miller

Teeing up for his last tournament with our association, Richard Miller (Wolseley) mentioned that he is retiring from our industry. Happy retirement, Richard: enjoy!

Enjoy the nice weather!

Dear members,
It is with great pleasure that I accept the mandate given to me as president for the next two years.
Our division is very active in many areas such as hydronics, in which we hope to set up a major media campaign next winter.
The YES program encourages young people to get involved in our association. One of their first mandates could be to find a French name for the program...
Also, here is a great way to start my tenure: I can announce the hiring of 40 new building inspectors. We have been involved in this issue for a number of years and have made a great many representations to administration to finally win the day.
I will be extremely lucky in being surrounded by a team of very devoted directors. It is my pleasure to present to you your board:
Officers :
-       André Descôteaux (past president and treasurer)
-       Martin Gagnon (1st vice-president)
-       Luc Meunier (2nd vice-president)
-       Daniel Bégin
-       Guy Bergeron
-       Éric Jacques
-       Frédérick Lajoie
-       Carole Moreau
-       Alain Paquette
-       Sylvain Perreault
Also part of the team are new director Gilles Rousseau as well as our go-between with National, Pierre Houle.
Here is hoping that you will come in great numbers to our next event on September 13, a visit of the Vignoble de Dunham in the Eastern Townships.
Denis Montour
On April 19, 55 members were on hand at Robbie's in Ottawa to listen to the executive director of Habitat for Humanity, Alexis Ashworth. She went over the mission of the organization which is to support low-income families to become homeowners. She also invited our members to give generously by donating products for which they can receive an income tax receipt equivalent to the cost of the product.

She finished her conference by mentioning upcoming builds: four townhouses in Orleans, phase 1 of a 16-unit project. Four more townhouses should be finished by the end of 2018 while the remaining eight will be built by the end of 2019.

2018 CIPH-Quebec AGM-New President
On May 10, 65 members of the Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating ( CIPH ), Quebec Region, were assembled at Gibby's Restaurant in Old Montreal for their annual general meeting, the 50th such gathering according to coordinator Claude Robitaille. Concluding his two-year mandate as president, André Descôteaux (Deschênes et Fils) stepped down to make way for Denis Montour (Uponor), who pledged to "continue the excellent work already accomplished". He also intends to "continue to work on the hydronics committee, while working on current issues". In his presentation of the annual financial statement, treasurer Sylvain Fournier (Moen)-who is leaving the board two years after having been president (in line with the organization charter)-explained that CIPH-Quebec was in excellent financial health because, in part, of the level of participation at the different activities. In his final remarks, André Descôteaux underlined the excellent work of the committee chairs whom as volunteers work hard to make progress on the different issues in which they believe. The vacant position on the board was filled by Gilles Rousseau (Masco) who will represent the manufacturing sector. The full 2018-2019 board will soon appear on the CIPH website, which has, as you well know, a French section: www.ciph.com ("Français" tab in the tool bar).
