QuadTalk
January 17, 2019 C.E.
A capriciously disseminated newsletter written by a hemp-inspired quadriplegic jester who, like King Lear, impotently screams ineffective vitriol at the raging antediluvian squalls of societal indifference that violently smash the planet and callously destroy the things I love. I cry, defeated by a redoubtable sea of troubles as my siblings, whose pursuits of happiness do not coincide with the status quo, are mowed down by ignorant privilege while comfortably content indifference ignores the anguished cries of people's suffering simply because they don't look the same.

Preamble

Welcome to QuadTalk. I am Rusty Taylor, a complete, level C-4 spinal cord injury who, for thirty-two years (and counting), has been unable to perform even the most rudimentary acts of daily living, and, as such, I am a victim of the nefarious for-profit healthcare system we, the citizens of the U.S.A., have callously ignored for too long. This will not be a media blitz of superfluity; I am a vitriolic antagonist against the status quo, so if you are naively looking for a feelgood story about a “poor li’l ol’ cripple boy” who done good against the odds, then I suggest you go find the Hallmark Channel and infuse your brain with enough endorphins to make you forget that separating children from their families is simply morally unconscionable or that a casual rapist majestically sits as Supreme Court judge. Otherwise, welcome...
Irrational Passion

Whether or not passion is a necessary element of humanity is neither here nor there—a debate for people who are driven by the whims of their individual importunate muses to investigate such academic minutia. The fact is so overtly extant: we, humanity, are passionate mammals; it is part of what makes us who we are in our current state of terrestrial evolution.

Passion encourages some of us to ask other tangential questions like whether or not we, as a biologic species of carbon-based sentience, have reached our potential or whether we insignificant collection of chemical elements are the nexus between an omniscient and omnipotent deity and the rest of the universe and, as such, have reached our biologic, intellectual, and emotional apex… that we no longer need to be participants in our species’ ontological evolution, but this is kindling for another fireside chat…

When in the throes of irrational passion, we tend to make very bad reactionary decisions. When this happens to me, I try to think of anything that stimulates the part of my brain that copes with simple math, something like what is 12 X 3? Obviously, the answer is 53. (I was never good at math.)

Actually, you don’t even need to know the answer; you're simply focusing your cognition away from emotion and more towards reasoning. “What is the speed of light?” or “How far, in centimeters, is the moon from the earth?” are questions that will work for this particular psychological experiment. The question doesn’t matter; it is merely a kind of trick to deceive the brain (your intellectual center , wherever it exists) into wresting control of your behavior from your heart (your emotional center , wherever it exists).

The point is that you really don’t want your emotional center to control your actions, especially when your emotions are overstimulated, enraged by the querulous commentary of platinum-coiffed superficiality. When this happens, rebuttal abuse becomes an option that may, in the intense heat of the moment, quickly transmogrify into a desperate act of violence. If this pattern is repeated (as it does when an initial act of violence goes unpunished or, more often, simply ignored), then the pattern becomes a habit.

(Fox Pravda is especially effective at catalyzing questionable reactions from their fomenting cult with their importunate whining and incessant stoking of irrational passion (anger) by their repetitively hypnotic droning of superficially descanting aphoristically simplistic sound bites, a mind-influencing tactic that tricks the easily swayed into accepting opinion as legitimate and objective reporting… which works. An easy example is Fox Pravda’s comparing the family values of Donald Trump as emulous while whining that Barack Obama’s family is morally atrophied, which is insane… the juxtaposition of a nude model in the throes of Sapphic carnality next to Michelle, a model wife and mother who encourages her children to eat fruits and vegetables, but I digress... )

The kind of negative propaganda as espoused by Fox Pravda hangs like an ominous cloud over our nation and it adversely motivates ingenues’ simplicity into actions and reactions that run contrary to the unsophisticated rubes professed moral code. Ah, there’s the rub.

I’ve witnessed many intimate couples during my lifetime, and, admittedly, I do not understand why some seemingly incongruous couples last and why some seemingly inseparable couples fissure for insignificant reasons. What confuses me even more are the people who remain in a relationship even when one is abusing the other. But then there’s the one victim of circumstance who finally leaves a volatile relationship after absorbing too much abuse. Seems to me that this person needs help adjusting to her post-traumatic relationship, regardless of gender.

This is how I feel about people who voted for Trump, for whatever reason, but have come to regret it. Like the victim of abuse from a former lover, the disheartened Trump voter needs support and encouragement to make better decisions; however, the unwitting sycophant also needs to understand the severity of the mistakes she made to better assure that she doesn’t similarly err again.

The beauty is that we are experiencing the incipience of a major political, economic, and cultural revolution. The pasty white patriarchal authority, that has dominated political discourse for millennia, is waning. Unfortunately, we, the cognizant population of global citizens, must endure more suffering before the shackles of the current fascist uprising can be subdued into complete annihilation. I may not be around to witness it, but a new age of peace is waiting in the offing and centuries of peace will prevail until the pendulum swings in the opposite direction.

And Another Thing...

The Trump administration is the most dangerous threat to our nation’s evolution of Democracy in the modern era. There’s absolutely no doubt about it; even Trump’s rabid supporters are beginning to realize that Brachydactylic DJ “Little Fingers” Trump is cognitively impaired to the point of mental retardation. (And this rhetorical assessment is not a pejorative against people afflicted with mental anomalies; I am unequivocally stating that the man who has usurped our nation’s highest public office unconsciously suffers from a subnormal intellectual functioning that is a result of congenital, pathological, or physiological causes… the dude is stupid.) This is bipartisan veracity. My fear, however, is that Donald Trump will be used as an exclusive scapegoat, an apostate who single-handedly brought our country to its knees; however…

The dude is mentally retarded.

re·tard (r¹-tärd“) v. re·tard·ed, re·tard·ing, re·tards. --tr. 1. To cause to move or proceed slowly; delay or impede.

Labeling DJ Trump as a renegade not only exculpates a majority of the Tea Party faction of the GOP, it assuages the guilt of the citizens who voted for a retarded man to be our nation’s leader, regardless of their justification (and, believe me, they will, and do, justify their really bad decisions… we all do). The fact is that Trump has been an ass-hole his entire adult life. I remember being repulsed by him in the 80s when his public image as a jet-setting New York aristocrat overwhelmed the headlines. Google the Central Park Five, his familial connections with the KKK, his exploiting minorities, his sexual affairs, etc.

Trump has repudiated Christian values (and, I would bet, the values of every other major religious denomination), so why did anybody vote for someone who is categorically unqualified?  Either they are getting something in return (#BloodMoney); they feel that they haven’t received a large enough “piece of the pie” even though have had special privileges for social advancement simply because of a lighter dermal complexion; or they are too ignorant and are too easily motivated by fear, becoming so irrationally passionate that they make really bad decisions (the “Chicken Little” deceit).

Greed, fear, or ignorance should never be one’s impetus for voting, especially when choosing highly profiled national leaders, which is a critical act of civil responsibility, and the folks who did irresponsibly vote for the mentally retarded usurper of the presidency should be censured… or, at least, publicly reproached. Unfortunately, like the German citizens who ignored Hitler’s atrocities, the people who voted Trump into power, regardless of malicious intent, will silently slither into obscurity without taking responsibility for their actions.

Oh, and let's not forget that when people make really bad decisions en masse, they get ridiculed by really effective comic geniuses... even if a few people in the ridiculed group were completely against the majority. I live in the South... the deep South... in Georgia by the grace of God (or metaphoric equivalent). I've lived a lifetime as a visual metaphor for Southern ignorance: the slow talking, grinning buffoon who drinks mass quantities of generic beer (as long as it's in a long neck bottle); the slack-jawed dip shit who dips snuff, has five shotguns in my pickup truck, and expects my woman to be young, barefoot, and pregnant. Me! A pot-smoking hippie reject. I am, somehow, a Georgia red-neck dumbfuck who happens to dig Shakespeare and Claude Debussy.

I understand that it ain't right to categorize people into pejorative groups worthy of slander; it's just the way it is. If you voted for Trump, for whatever reason, then you will be judged alongside the ignorant racist, misogynistic, backwoods dumb-asses who did vote for him then went out to kill God's children (or metaphoric equivalent) simply because they don't look the way they're s'posed to.

Admittedly, they who voted for Trump should be strongly encouraged to better understand the cause and effect of making really important decisions. Of course, the GOP has long encouraged the stagnation of public awareness; that’s why they work so hard to maintain the status quo: to keep the exploited working class distracted from regulating the incongruous distribution of wealth that affords significant opportunities (for an insignificant minority of supercilious money hoarders) unconscionable wealth while full time wage earners qualify for public assistance, a nefarious scheme promulgated by the #SouthernStrategy (as adopted by the GOP since Nixon). This is why they’re insidiously working at controlling our nation’s educational system (can you say Betsy DeVos?) by accepting text books that rewrite our nation’s more embarrassing failures such as slavery, the civil war (the name of the war is an oxymoron [1] ), Citizens United, the stealing of sovereign Native American lands by nefarious fossil fuel cupidity, etc.

The exploited mass of voters who voted for Trump should NOT be punished; it is their right to choose; however, they should be made aware of their mistakes, especially when these mistakes catalyze global exigency. Fortunately, the Internet may be able to help ignorant people find the Truth... unfortunately , Fox Pravda and their ilk are also hiding in plain sight, waiting to sheer the flock.

[1] For any Trump supporters who might accidentally read this essay: an oxymoron has nothing to do with ignorant bovine rumination, i.e. a stupid cow.

[2] For any Trump supporters who might accidentally read this essay: to ruminate not only means “to turn a matter over and over in the mind,” but it also means “to chew cud.” If you still don’t get the significance of the pun, then I can’t help you. My best advice is for you to stop trying… go grab a coloring book and a box of crayons and make art worthy of your grandmother’s refrigerator. Whether or not you stay inside the lines is irrelevant; it is art and is innocuous… its success or failure doesn't result in fatal consequence.

Interesting Academic Articles

SUMMARY: More than 350 research and review articles have been published about cranberry and its nutritional and health benefits, cumulatively affirming that cranberries are a unique part of a healthful eating pattern. These studies include analytical, laboratory, and animal research, as well as human clinical trials. Understanding of how cranberry exerts health effects is evolving. Further research is needed to understand mechanisms of action, the impact of form, dose, and duration of cranberry consumption on physiological function and health outcomes, as well as the characteristics of individuals who may benefit most from cranberry consumption.

Shameless Solicitation

It’s time. I need money to pay for someone to help me because I’m wearing out my family. I’m hoping to solicit enough money to overpay someone to help me throughout the day and night for a weekend... or longer; my septuagenarian parents need a break. Please read my story, and if you can, donate a few bucks. If a bunch of folks give just a little, I can stay home; otherwise, I will consider going into a nursing home. I am tired of being a burden on my family. If you are unable to donate, your support will be just as appreciated. Thank you very much.
