QVHS PSAT Day, October 11

The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) will be administered on Wednesday, October 11 to all students in grades 10 and 11 and the PSAT 8/9 to students in grade 9. Students in grades 9, 10 and 11 who attend Parkway West Career and Technology Center will take the PSAT unless they have opted out of testing through their school counselor. Students who attend Parkway who have chosen to take the PSAT will not attend Parkway on October 11 (excused absence). Parkway students who are testing should ride their assigned QVSD school bus (not the Parkway bus) to the high school to participate in PSAT testing. Students who opted out of testing will ride their Parkway bus and have a quiet study hall when they return to QVHS if they do not have personal transportation or have not turned in their early release permission slip.

For additional information regarding the PSAT testing, transportation & early release, and Parkway Career and Technology Center, see the High School Schoology page or the email sent home to all QVHS families on Monday, October 9. Operation Christmas Child

Families, neighbors, friend groups, scout troops and individuals are invited to join the Sewickley United Methodist Church family in our 2023 Operation Christmas Child campaign. This is our 13th year participating with the global OCC drive and we've sent more than 1,300 gift-filled shoe boxes to children in Ukraine and multiple countries in Africa, South America, Central America and the Caribbean. We provide the boxes, you fill them with school supplies and other small gifts, and return them to us. We bless the boxes in worship services and deliver them to collection centers. There is a $10 shipping fee for each box.

Boxes are available at the Sewickley UMC (337 Broad St.) pumpkin patch any day in October, or at the church office (Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m). Each box includes instructions and a list of suggested gifts (toothbrushes, crayons, pencils, notebooks, stuffed animals, balls, dolls, socks, T-shirts, caps). Boxes must be returned to the pumpkin patch or the church office by Nov. 12. For more information, contact Bill Utterback (412-913-6251, utterbac@earthlink.net).
