Inclement Weather Information

As the temperatures drop and winter weather systems enter our region more frequently, we want to take this time to remind families of our alert protocols.

Families will receive texts, phone calls, and/or emails through our alert system. A follow up email will be sent out from the qvelink@qvsd.org email address. It is important to be sure that your contact information is current. If the contact information needs to be updated, please contact your student’s school. In addition, our district website, www.qvsd.org, is used to communicate delays and closings, as is the District’s social media (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram).

Quaker Valley also notifies three local news stations: KDKA, WPXI, WTAE. Please note that the District does not control how quickly the information is updated on-air. You may consider signing up for the electronic alerts through these stations.

Laughlin Children's Center Child-Adult Relationship Enhancement (CARE) Workshops

Register for one of our popular and informative Care Workshops presented by Dr. Gail Mangan, a highly acclaimed Adolescent Psychologist.

CARE training includes an educational component and active practice for general use by adults who interact with children of all ages in various settings.

Adults who are clinicians will benefit from the training, and those in roles such as receptionist, preschool teacher, daycare provider, medical provider, parent, or foster parent.

Child-Adult Relationship Enhancement (CARE) is a trauma-informed, field-initiated training for nonclinical adults. Care training emphasizes principles taught in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy. CARE utilizes the 3 P's – Praise, Paraphrase, and Point out to connect with children and promote positive child-adult relationships. CARE training also contains techniques for giving children effective commands and a set of selective ignoring techniques to redirect problematic behaviors.
