Athletic Passes Available: 

2022-2023 Athletic Event Passes now available for sale! To purchase, contact the QVHS athletic office at 412-749-6001 or johnsc@qvsd.org. 


Adult passes are $50 and student passes are $25. Make checks payable to QVSD. Passes are not valid at QVHS away games or any home or away playoff/championship game.

 

QVHS Girls Basketball Playoff Update

#WPIAL Girls’ Basketball Class 4A 3rd Place Game Final Score: Quaker Valley 44, Highlands 28. QV moves to 17-8 on the year and claims the 3rd seed out of the #WPIAL for the #PIAA Playoffs. Leading Scorers for QV: Maria Helkowski 11, Shannon Von Kaenel 10, Mimi Thiero 9.


Quaker Valley Girls’ Basketball will open up the #PIAA Class 4A Playoffs on Saturday, March 11th. They will play the 2nd seed out of District 10 (Fairview/Harbor Creek). Ticket and location information to come.

6th Grade and Elementary Track and Field for Quaker Valley Students (2023)

This Spring, Ryan Kelly, Quaker Valley Middle School Track and Field Coach is starting a track and field opportunity for Quaker Valley Middle School students in 6th grade and Quaker Valley elementary students in grades 3-5. This opportunity is to provide students exposure to all that track and field offers and provide them with time to be instructed in the events of sprinting, distance running, hurdling, jumping, and throwing in a practice setting. This opportunity will occur on the track at Quaker Valley Middle School (GPS Address: 618 Harbaugh Street, Sewickley, PA 15143) on the dates listed below. If your student-athlete is interested in participating in track and field opportunity, please reach out to Ryan Kelly via email at kellyr@qvsd.org

Barclay Etiquette and Ballroom Dancing Classes in Sewickley 

Boys and Girls in grades 3 - 8 use dancing, fun and games to learn table manners, party and dancing etiquette, manners for personal electronics, and kind and respectful behavior in social situations. Classes meet one Thursday every month through May at the Edgeworth Club, 511 East Drive Sewickley, PA. Class dates: 3/9, 4/27, 5/4, 5/18. Class Times: 3rd - 4th grade meets 4:15pm – 5:15pm. 5th – 8th grade meets 5:45pm – 6:45pm. Attention Middle School Students: Do you love science? Join educators from Fern Hollow Nature Center twice a month as we explore the world of watersheds and environmental science through hands-on experiments and research-based exploration. This after-school program is free and open to sixth to eighth-grade students. The program allows students to create connections between ecological impacts and data collection in the classroom. The program is offered at the middle school from 3:05-4:30 on March 15th, March 29th, April 19th, April 26th, May 3rd, and May 17th. Pre Registration is required. For more information or to register, please email info@fhnc.org, subject MS Creekers.


Fern Hollow Nature Center is excited to announce our new “Nature & Nurture” program, geared for infants and children up to age 2 and their caregivers. A Fern Hollow educator will share guided hikes and outdoor activities, as well as a nature-themed circle time consisting of stories, songs and games. All participants will also have a chance for free exploration. This program will take place on March 21. Registration is required. https://fhnc.org/family-programs/


Join educators from Fern Hollow Nature Center to learn more about the history and science of Maple Sugaring on Saturday March 11, 2023 from 10am to Noon. Discover how the process of Maple Sugaring has changed over time and has been perfected into a science. This program blends American history, botany, chemistry, and physics into a fun, hands-on, and tasty experience. Try Fern Hollow’s exclusive “Sugar Maker’s Sundae” and spend the morning learning the importance of maple trees in Pennsylvania. This is a family program. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required. fhnc.org


Nature Night Out Spring 2023 dates released! NNO is a Friday night drop-off event for children ages 5 to 10. Participants will take hikes, do some crafts and have a fun evening of exploration. This program takes place on Friday March 17, April 28, and May 12 from 6 to 9 PM. Spaces are limited. Registration is required.


Fern Hollow Nature Center is gearing up for our 2023 summer camps and clubs. We are currently seeking teen volunteers to assist environmental educators this summer as camp counselors. Camp counselors help out with games, activities, crafts, and outdoor adventures. This is a great way to volunteer for community service and have fun while doing it! Due to a generous grant from the Union Aid Society, financial aid and scholarships are available for Summer Camps at Fern Hollow to those receiving free and reduced lunches..  Email sam@fhnc.org for details.  

Kids' Community Closet Opens

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sewickley is excited to announce the opening of a new outreach project – the Kids’ Community Closet. This free-cycle space will serve children ages infant to youth by providing gently used clothing, coats/jackets, and shoes to the community for free.


There are no applications, income guidelines, or donations required to “shop” at the Kids’ Closet. Using the courtyard entrance to St. Paul’s, community members are welcome to stop by the second floor to donate, shop, or volunteer at the following times: 9 a.m. to noon Mondays and Tuesdays; 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays; 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays.


At this time, the Kids’ Community Closet is only able to accept children’s clothing and shoes. We are not able to accept toys, baby gear, bedding/blankets, athletic equipment, etc.

Sewickley Valley Lacrosse Registration

Registration is now open for Sewickley Valley Lacrosse Spring 2023. Whether you are a beginner or have experience, this spring is a great time to get onto the lacrosse field! Our programs focus on developing lacrosse skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship in a safe environment. The season will begin in March and run through May. Please check out svlax.org for more information.
