Happy Summer! The Colorado ACC Board has been working on the agenda for the annual meeting in December at the Broadmoor. This year’s Colorado ACC annual meeting will have a special focus on peripheral arterial disease in our state, the 2026 lipid guidelines, and cardio-obstetrics. Back by popular demand, Jeopardy will feature teams comprised of fellows and attendings. If you are interested in participating on a Jeopardy team, email me (lavanya.kondapalli@cuanschutz.edu). Registration details for the conference are in the newsletter. 

Just as a reminder, if you attended ACC 2026, the deadline to claim credit is June 30, 2026, at 5 pm ET. Pharmacists need to claim credit by May 29, 2026, at 5 pm ET.

Seeking Next Editor-in-Chief of JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions

The ACC is seeking applications for the next Editor‑in‑Chief of JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions. The Editor‑in‑Chief will guide the Journal’s scientific vision, ensure rigorous peer review, foster community engagement, and collaborate closely with colleagues across the JACC family to shape an integrated editorial strategy. The role requires a five-year commitment, international expertise in interventional cardiology, significant editorial leadership experience, and a strong, cohesive vision for the Journal’s future.

Our local Colorado election for President/Governor and CV Team Chapter Representative will be held this Summer. The 3-year terms for both positions will be April 1 2028, through March 31 2031.

ACC Vice President and Trustee Applications

The ACC is accepting applications for Vice President and two Trustees. All interested candidates must submit an “intent to submit” email by this Friday, May 22, before the applications are due Monday, June 15. The Vice President must have previously served at least one term on the Board of Trustees. Trustees are appointed to a non-renewable four-year term.

Comments Needed on Draft Multisocietal Advanced Training Statement on ACHD

The ACC is seeking comments on a draft version of an ACC/AHA/SPCTPD Advanced Training Statement on Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD). The document utilizes the ACGME competency domain structure to identify the competencies required by all ACHD subspecialists as well as those who choose to pursue training in several optional, highly specialized areas of ACHD. It also recommends the procedural volume and technical experience to achieve and demonstrate competence as an ACHD subspecialist. 

Access the document and public comment response form and submit feedback by Friday, May 22.

Deadlines:

Douglas P. Zipes Distinguished Young Scientist Award

The deadline has been extended to submit a nomination for the Douglas P. Zipes Distinguished Young Scientist Award, which recognizes early career scientists who have made outstanding contributions to the field of cardiovascular disease and our scientific literature. The award winner will receive a $1,000 prize and an invitation to present their scientific work during ACC.27 Together With WCC in Houston, TX – all expenses paid. Nominations are due by Thursday, June 4.

Hani Najm Global Scholar Award Observership Program

Early career cardiologists residing in low- to middle-income countries are invited to apply for the Hani Najm Global Scholar Award Observership Program for the opportunity to complete a three-to four-week observership program in the U.S. and be formally recognized at ACC.27 Together With WCC in Houston, TX – all expenses paid. 

Submit applications by Monday, June 8.
