California speed limit bill would impact fleet safety requirements

California SB 961 proposes that new vehicles sold (beginning with 2027 model year) be equipped with speed limiters to help prevent road fatalities. This includes passenger vehicles, motortrucks and buses.

The bill is modeled after the pilot program that New York City has been conducting since 2022. Preliminary results indicate a success in reducing unsafe driving.

Speed Sentinel is the solution to meet current and proposed safety requirements. A simple and inexpensive road speed limiter, Speed Sentinel is field programmable and helps prevent speeding.
