As we wrap up the year, there's so much to reflect on...

At SouthFair, we're very thankful for continued interest from our community and support from our partners. Continuing to revitalize South Dallas is a group effort and we can't do it without you!

And as the year rounds out, and we express our gratitude, we'd also like to remind you: our work is not yet finished!

We're only a few days away from our largest donation season. North Texas Giving Day has been a huge instrument on SouthFair receiving the funds it needs to continue to run programs like our Senior Care Program or Fair Park Estates Neighborhood Association, as well as keeping our Homebuyer Counseling (pre and post purchase) free. In addition, our general operations also rely on the kindness of your giving. This year, SouthFair's goal is to raise $40,000! We appreciate donations in any increment: $25, $50, $100, $500 and more!

Our ability to revitalize the South Dallas community works hand-in-hand with those who give. Look at these smiles from our seniors and kids! And the counseling at work!

$25 allows one senior to participate in an outing

$30 affords a family a meeting with a housing counselor.

$100 affords five homebuyers free merged credit reports with FICO

$500 affords three to participate in continued education training for board/staff

Matching funds are additional dollars contributed directly from a donor, company or community partner (or some combination) to help encourage donations to your nonprofit. Historically, nonprofits that secure 1:1 matching funds are more successful than those do not.

Kayela was our most recent high school summer intern. She is now a senior at Carter Highschool and has plans to study civil engineering in college. We were happy to host this South Dallas native. Here a little more about Kayela.

Favorite restaurant, dish, or pig-out food-

I love seafood and when I want some, I go to Dan’s Seafood and Chicken, it’s good I mostly get crab and shrimp.

Family? – My family means the most to me and everyone plays a big role in my life. My Granny is my motivator. When I am going though things I talk to her, she is like my best friend. Being on the phone with her is everything because we can be on the phone for hours. She is my lifesaver. My grandpa is the person that would tell me things about the real world. We would go out and you never know what we are doing that day so with him it’s an adventure. My mother is very independent and gets stuff done on her own. She is the reason for me being independent and thriving the way I do. My sisters are my go-to for things and being around them is everything so with us being together its fun and laughter.

Famous person you would most like to meet- Pastor Mike Todd - when watching his videos, he gives real world examples of walking with God and that its okay to do some things wrong. Pray for God’s forgiveness because everybody is not perfect but when feeling worried or scared listen, I pray and listen to him. He’s bigger than just a pastor, he’s like a friend. When he is speaking it feels like his speaking directly to you. He motivated me to read my bible and get into Gods words.

Words that describe you best – unique, smart, determined, independent, goofy, funny, laid back, considerate, affectionate, goal oriented, persistent, classy, compassionate.

In your spare time you... In my spare time I fish. I catch and cook. I garden, mow the lawn and have fun with my grandparents.

If you've learned one thing in life, it is... - Life is going to move with or without you, its up to you. If you want to make something out of yourself, you can’t lay around you must get back up and try it again. You must grind for what you want!

What are your hope and desires for SouthFair and/or the South Dallas community? – South Dallas can be more but with the different things going on it seems hard sometimes, (i.e., homelessness) There is so much history in South Dallas. I feel like as a community we can make it look better.
