Summer Newsletter 2022

Message from our CEO - Ellen T. Wayne, Ed.D.

Dear Catholic Charities Supporters

Greetings! What a blessing and privilege to be joining the team at Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach. I have been immediately struck by the dedication and commitment of the employees, Board of Directors and volunteers who work hard to carry out our mission and bring our vision to life. As I learn more about our programs and services, and visit our many locations, my initial observations are only reinforced. There is so much good work taking place across our five-county service area!

These are important times, to be sure. There continues to be a growing inequality of income, that, coupled with rising costs of housing, groceries,

gasolines and other basic needs force more and more families into despair.

Our vulnerable elderly continue struggling with the isolation that has resulted from the pandemic. The neighbors we welcome from war-ravaged, impoverished countries continue to need our assistance on their path to citizenship; and those children and adults who have been forced into predatory situations are turning to us in ever-increasing numbers. Recent wins in our respect life efforts fortified our resolve to support pregnant and parenting moms, and remind us that we must continue that support post-partum so all children can thrive in healthy, self-sufficient families.

Know this—Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach stands ready to meet the needs of those who turn to us for support. We are honored to be a resource people turn to in time of need, and we will continue to respond with respect and recognition of the dignity of all.

Thank you for your role in helping us meet our Gospel calling! Whether you are a community partner, a volunteer or a donor, be assured we value the role you play in our efforts. I welcome the chance to get to know you! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly at etwayne@ccdpb.org or by calling me directly at 561.360.3339.

Sincerely,

Ellen t. Wayne, Ed.D.

Meet our New CEO

Meet Ellen T. Wayne, Catholic Charities New CEO

For Ellen Wayne, beginning her new job June 27 as CEO and executive director of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach is a homecoming of sorts. That’s because she has returned to heading a Catholic Charities agency like the one she previously directed in New York State.  For 12 years, from 2007 to 2019, Wayne was executive director of Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes in the Diocese of Rochester, New York.
