Drive Electric Rochester Event Recap!

Greater Rochester Clean Cities in partnership with Color Penfield Green and Tesla Owners Club of NY hosted their annual Drive Electric event on Saturday, September 30.

"I met many interesting people and was able to share my year's worth of EV ownership experience...Thanks for this wonderful opportunity to meet other clean energy enthusiasts", said attendee David Damico of LeRoy, NY. Visitors to the event were able to interact with more than 100 electric vehicles including an electric city bus, a boat, a motorcycle, and 2 classic car conversions in addition to conventional EVs. An attendee from Fairport, NY said: "I had a great time yesterday talking about my new Kia Niro EV and learning from numerous others who were as enthusiastic about doing their part towards giving our grandchildren a similar home to grow up and set their own paths to their best future".

Drive Electric Rochester is a great opportunity to talk with EV owners and dealers about their experience, so if you haven't had a chance to attend, stay tuned for our 2024 Earth Day event in Penfield!

Greater Rochester Clean Cities Directors' Training

New Clean Cities coalition directors from across the country attended Clean Cities 101 training hosted by the DOE and NREL in Salt Lake City. We networked with other coalitions and learned some valuable tools and strategies that will inform the our work in the Greater Rochester region. We look forward to bringing these tools to you and learning how we can best be a resource for you, your business, or your organization!

Clean Cities Celebrates 30 Years of Acting Locally To Generate National Impact

A new Clean Cities video premiered during the Stakeholder Summit, which brought together 350 people from DOE, national laboratories, Clean Cities coalitions, and stakeholder organizations. The video highlights how coalitions generate national impact by transforming transportation systems at the local level. Today, more than 75 Clean Cities coalitions cover nearly every state and 85% of the U.S. population and partner with 20,000 public and private stakeholders. Over the past 30 years, coalition activities have saved the equivalent of 13 billion gallons of gasoline and prevented more than 67 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions. Clean Cities coalitions have also helped place more than 1.3 million alternative fuel vehicles on U.S. roads and establish the fueling and charging infrastructure to serve this growing market.

Current Funding Opportunities

$100 Million to Improve EV Charger Reliability

The Biden-Harris administration opened applications for the Electric Vehicle Charger Reliability and Accessibility Accelerator, which will provide up to $100 million in federal funding to repair and replace existing but non-operational, EV charging infrastructure. These targeted investments will complement hundreds of billions in private sector investment, support good paying jobs across the country installing, maintaining, and repairing EV infrastructure, and make our current charging network more reliable.

Eligible applicants include only state DOTs and local governments. Applications are due by Nov. 13, 2023. Visit Grants.gov for more information.

Drive Clean Rebate

The Drive Clean Rebate offers New York State residents a point-of-sale rebate of up to $2,000 towards the purchase or lease of a new electric car. Eligible vehicles include all-electric cars, plug-in hybrid electric cars, and fuel-cell electric cars. Rebates are provided directly by car dealers and are taken off the purchase or lease price of the car. Car buyers do not have to apply, they simply make sure that their car dealer includes the rebate amount in their purchase.
