Porchia Wilson

Hello families and providers. My name is Porchia Wilson and I am proud to be serving as your Quality Specialist here at SSPC. I’m originally from Clayton NC. I moved to Pender County to pursue a career in early education. I enjoyed my time working with young children, but after several years in the field I moved on to teach middle and elementary school. I’m now very happy to be back to my early childhood roots, and I look forward to serving the providers in our community

Early Child Development

Sight Word Soup- Level 1 #491

With this item, children will build word recognition as they scoop fun-filled portions of sight words. To play, children will scoop up sight-word “noodles,” then sort them into the matching bowls on their activity mats. Level 1 Sight-Word Soup covers 25 sight-words. This game helps build reading fluency as well as helping children recognize and read high fluency words.

All Around Town #427

While playing this game, children will build early learning skills such as logic, counting number recognition language development and thinking skills. “As they navigate through this fun filled town, players move from one store to the next, collecting items such as clothing, books and art supplies. They sort the items onto storefronts on their game mats…and race to become the first player to collect an item from every store!"

Ready, Set, Go! Item #1689

Ready, Set, Go! is the perfect go to guide for your child’s transition to kindergarten. This set includes four DVD’s that provide support at every stage of transition. Topics presented on the DVD’s include Ideas to Grow On, All Set for School, Making the Move to Kindergarten and Your electronic toolkit. This is a great resource for teachers, parents and caregivers to young children birth to 5 years old.

Bully Safe Item #2008

Bully Safe is an educational card game that teaches a systems approach to reducing bullying behavior. All children have been involved in bullying incidents, whether as a target, a bully, or a bystander. While playing this game, children will learn concrete, nonviolent skills and behaviors to reduce bullying.
