The MWA Report
Fall 2021
Dear Clients and Friends,

The temperature has finally cooled off. Amid the palm trees, pumpkin patches have begun to appear. As you enter stores, scents of cinnamon, sandalwood, and pumpkin spice fill the air. All of this could only mean one thing: it is fall in Florida.

In this edition of our newsletter, you will find a case study on the multigenerational tax benefits of 529 plans, a brief Q&A about life settlements, insights from ValMark’s Member Summit held earlier this month in Orlando, and our quarterly economic commentary. You will also find the link to join us in the Boca Raton Walk to End Alzheimer's this November.

We hope you find aspects of this newsletter to be relevant to your own financial circumstances and welcome your feedback. So grab a hot cocoa, get comfortable and enjoy.

All the best,

Bill
Case Study, Volume 118
529 Plans Can Be Saved for Grandchildren
We found that if our client saved their 529 surplus for their grandchildren, they would reap the benefits of tax-free growth for 20 more years as opposed to facing substantial penalties for taking out their gains earlier.
Bill's Brief
A Brief Note on Life Settlements
Your life insurance is a financial asset just like your home or investments. Similarly, there may be buyers who want to purchase your policy. Here are some of the common questions we get about life settlements.
Quarterly Economic Commentary
Third Quarter, 2021
Stocks closed out this quarter on a tumultuous note as some of the large, fast-growing companies had their worst month since the start of the pandemic. Some key economic fundamentals keeping markets afloat are low interest rates, high consumer demand, and strong corporate earnings. Read more to find out which three key issues weighed on investors’ minds this past quarter.
Valmark Summit Update
Valmark Financial Group’s Member Summit conference took place at the Waldorf Astoria in Orlando earlier this month! This past summer marked our firm’s 15th anniversary with Valmark. At the conference, 126 Member Firms from around the country shared best practices with their peers. We gained insights into some of the greatest challenges facing our clients, such as today’s low bond yields and their implications for portfolio returns. In addition, we uncovered some unique planning opportunities, like taking full advantage of the current gift and estate tax system, which is subject to change under proposed legislation. On the Main Platform, we heard from Anirbur Basu on the state of the economy, and Dan Miller, who gave an eye-opening presentation on modern nutrition and fitness. We look forward to sharing some new and innovative ways to make your money work harder for you in the coming year.
