The MWA Report
Spring 2021
Dear Clients and Friends,

There is a sentiment of renewed optimism in the air. More than a quarter of the U.S. population has now been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, and all American adults are now eligible to receive a vaccine.
This spring edition includes our first quarter’s economic commentary, a brief on President Biden’s proposal to reduce the personal estate tax exemption, and our 2021 Tax Reference Guide.

Please remember that The Treasury Department and Internal Revenue Service extended the federal income tax filing due date for individuals for the 2020 tax year from April 15 to May 17, 2021. The extension also extends the deadline until May 17 to make a 2020 prior-year contribution to a traditional or Roth IRA. As always, please call our office if you have any questions.
Q1 Economic Commentary
Markets have rebounded and experienced new highs since the steep decline caused by the pandemic. We highlight three impactful factors that shaped markets this quarter.
Bill's Brief
Confronting Tax Reform
The president's $2 trillion plan to rebuild infrastructure would be offset by a gradual increase in corporate tax revenues. As part of a second package, the president wants to cut down the estate transfer tax exemptions to $3.5 million. Here are some wealth transfer strategies to consider.
Tax Reference Guide 2021
We have included our 2021 Tax Reference Guide in hopes that it may be a valuable resource for you during the remainder of this tax season and throughout the year.
What's Happening With Our Team?
"I am pleased to announce that my son, Ben, will be attending the Indiana University Kelley School of Business this fall, where he plans to major in Finance. He continues to write and perform music and has released two original songs on streaming platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, etc. In addition, my daughter, Romy, will begin law school at the University of Florida in the fall, where she has been an undergraduate student for the past 4 years. As you can imagine, this is an exciting time for my family, and I am very proud of both of my children for their accomplishments."

Bill Miller, Managing Partner
"One of my favorite pastimes is going diving and experiencing the incredible wildlife of the ocean. I recently went on a local dive where I got up close to a Moray eel. I followed him for as long as I could until he turned around and looked me straight in the eyes. Thankfully, he turned out to be friendly, so I left the encounter unharmed."

- Erin Sabin, Associate Planner
"I put on my winter coat and ventured to Boston to visit a friend and tour Boston University’s law school. Even though it was terrifying at first, riding my bike through the bustling city was my favorite part of the trip. Seeing the beautiful sights while chopping through the brisk air – nothing compares!"
