At Diversity Services, we're proud to be partners in UC Davis Health's Anchor Institution Mission (AIM), focusing on building a stronger, more inclusive Sacramento through local hiring and outreach. Our work is about more than numbers—it's about creating real opportunities for our neighbors. Together with our partners, we have organized and participated in over 50 outreach events, reaching more than 6,300 community members in the last fiscal year, and we’re on track to exceed that number this year. Our aim? To demystify the hiring process and show that #youbelonghere at UC Davis Health.
Here’s how we're making an impact:
• 20.7% local hiring rate for the fiscal year as of October 1, 2024, surpassing our target of 20% and continuing a steady upward trend in hiring from local AIM zip codes.
• 50+ community events attended in the last fiscal year, engaging over 6,300 local residents with information and resources about employment opportunities...Read more

UC Davis’ Commitment to Local Sourcing: A Sweet Success with Ginger Elizabeth Chocolates | | |
|
|
UC Davis Health's Head Executive Chef for Food & Nutrition Services Santana Diaz explains, “Our food service model is focused on local sourcing, nutrition, and taste. Good food is good medicine. When we reduce unnecessary additives and preservatives, and educate our patients, visitors, and staff, we create a healthier community”.
UC Davis Health has long been dedicated to uplifting the Sacramento community and supporting local businesses, with partnerships that extend beyond university walls and into the heart of Sacramento’s small business ecosystem. Among these partnerships is a remarkable collaboration with Ginger Elizabeth Chocolates, a local artisan chocolatier renowned for crafting exquisite, small-batch treats that feature the best of Sacramento’s agricultural bounty. Since joining UC Davis in 2017 Chef Santana Diaz has ventured to innovate the way UC Davis Health invests in local farmers, ranchers, patients, and the community.
Chef Diaz’s work aligns with UC Davis Health’s Anchor Institution Mission (AIM), which was launched in 2020 to focus on economically distressed communities in the Sacramento region by addressing the socio-economic factors affecting health and wellbeing of their residents. Anchor institutions are deeply connected to their communities through their missions, investments, and relationships with employees, vendors, and residents. Chef Diaz and UC Davis Health are committed to furthering this mission by supporting local farmers, businesses, patients, and communities...Read more
