What's New?

New Hosted Data Analytics Framework for ACCESS XDMoD

ACCESS XDMoD has a new hosted Data Analytics Framework available, which allows users to log in, launch a JupyterLab session (via a button in the top-right corner), use a Python API to request ACCESS CI usage and performance data, and analyze the data using a broad range of data science, visualization and machine learning tools. The Data Analytics Framework for XDMoD was previously available but required a local installation of the Python API and Jupyter. The new hosted framework requires no local software installation. Users should note that JupyterLab sessions do not have persistent storage, so they should download their work periodically. The JupyterLab sessions contain example Jupyter notebooks showing how to use the Python API; these are also available through the xdmod-notebooks GitHub repository. The ACCESS Metrics team welcomes contributions to the notebooks and to the Python API source code via GitHub Pull Requests. For questions, please submit a ticket here.

ACCESS Quarterly Roundup

The ACCESS Quarterly meeting took place in Buffalo, NY, on Sept. 9 and 10. ACCESS teams presented on the various projects they’re working on, and attendees were treated to an in-depth dive into some of the work. One of the highlights of the first day’s session was learning about all the new resources that will soon be allocated through ACCESS. You can find detailed notes and slides used during the presentations on the ACCESS wiki. These meetings are a terrific opportunity to learn more about what your colleagues are developing. They’re also a great way for you to talk about the work that you do! Keep an eye out for emails detailing the next quarterly meeting, including a call for topic proposals.

Vote for an ACCESS or RP project in this year’s HPCwire Awards!

Voting has begun for the 2025 HPCwire awards. Many of our Resource Providers (RPs) have been nominated for a number of awards, and ACCESS is featured in five of the nominations. Please consider supporting the vital work done through the ACCESS program and through our RPs by voting in this year’s awards. You can cast your vote here. You must be a subscriber to HPCwire’s Weekly Update to cast your ballot. Voting is only open until Friday, Oct. 3. Now is also the perfect time to follow ACCESS on LinkedIn or BlueSky. You’ll find more details about the nominated projects in our social media feeds, and you can follow our SC25 conference updates as we prepare for the big event!

Spotlights & Shout Outs

Teams Talk All Things ACCESS

ACCESS is a broad, inclusive community, and a wide range of principal investigators (PIs) handle allocations on ACCESS resources, support for users, development of new tools and software, and outreach to potential new users and students. With ACCESS, a graduate student can utilize the most advanced systems in the world, and scientists and educators at institutions with few HPC resources can obtain allocations on systems across the nation. Listen to a video in which our PIs talk about their work, why it's important and how ACCESS contributes to a national cyberinfrastructure that empowers discoveries in science and engineering. You can also check out more ACCESS videos on our YouTube page.

Where in the World is ACCESS?

Meet us in St. Louis!

In November, many of our PIs, technical experts, resource providers (RPs) and users will be attending SC25, the annual supercomputing conference, which this year is being held in St. Louis. We will have a full schedule of events at our booth and participate in talks, tutorials and workshops. Many ACCESS RPs will also have booths at the conference, demonstrating how ACCESS enables science and engineering discoveries. You can learn more about SC25 at the conference website. We'll have more updates on our participation in the coming weeks.

If you're planning to attend a conference or event or have recently attended an event in your ACCESS role, we'd love to hear about it! Share it here.
