Statement:
GMO's Hurt the Environment
Fact:
GMO's actually
help the environment. According to GMO Answers, GMO's allow farmers to grow more with less acres of land. Without access to GMO's, farmers would have needed to plant an additional 18.2 million acres of corn; 20.7 acres of soybeans; 7.4 million acres of cotton; and 1.7 million acres of canola to keep up with global production levels in 2015. That's nearly equal to all the farmland in Iowa and Missouri. With a growing world population demanding more food, fiber and fuel; being able to grow more with less land is critical to saving our forests and prairies.
