Tent City Meal
July 16th, 2023, 4:30 pm-7:30 pm
Sign up to join us in Bloedel Hall to prep and share a meal with Tent City! We are looking for 5-8 people to represent Queer in Christ that evening to help prepare and serve the meal, eat with the residents of Tent City, and then stay to help clean up. We are asked to arrive at 4:30 pm to help begin the prep. We serve dinner at 6pm and should be finished and all cleaned up by 7:30pm. The meal sharing ministry will also have one or two people there to help provide direction for us, so all we have to do is follow directions! Interested and available to help? Email Michael Seewer (mseewer@saintmarks.org).

A Celebration of Pauli Murray: The First Queer Saint in The Episcopal Church
Sunday, July 2, 4:30 p.m. - Taizé Prayer Liturgy (cathedral nave)
Wednesday, July 12, time TBA - Pauli Murray Forum (Bloedel Hall)
We are planning two events in July honoring The Reverend Doctor Pauli Murray, the first Queer saint in The Episcopal Church (her feast day is July 1). For the Taizé Prayer liturgy on July 2, we are looking for musicians who might like to help lead the service by playing an instrument or singing. You do not need to be a professional musician to help us lead the music! Interested in learning more? Contact Michael Seewer (mseewer@saintmarks.org). And you can learn more about what Taizé Prayer looks like at Saint Mark's by visiting our Taizé Prayer webpage. We will also have our next Meet & Greet after the Taizé Prayer liturgy concludes in the Cathedral nave (starting around 5:30).
On July 12, we will welcome notable author (and creator of the Brave Sis Project) Rozella Kennedy for an evening forum in Bloedel Hall to learn about who Pauli Murray was, and why her story is important to us. We will also learn about her life as an Episcopal Priest and her addition to The Episcopal Church's "Calendar of Saints" (called Lesser Feasts & Fasts). The time of this event will be communicated soon.
Fun fact: Pauli Murray will be featured on a U.S. quarter as part of the American Women Quarters Program in 2024. How cool is that?!?!

July Meet and Greets
The next Queer in Christ Meet and Greet will be on July 2 at 5:30 in the Cathedral Nave. It will occur after the Queer in Christ sponsored Pauli Murray Taizé Prayer liturgy. We hope that we might have members of the broader Capitol Hill community join us for this special event. We plan on advertising the Pauli Murray Taizé liturgy at the Pride Fest in Capitol Hill. If you might be able to bring in an hors d'oeuvres or beverage for this event, sign up here.

Pride Karaoke
Join us for Pride Karaoke in Leffler Living Room on Friday, June 9 at 7pm! Sing solo, or a duet, or with a group! To participate, sign up for a slot here. Be sure to include a link to a YouTube karaoke video, which we will use for your performance. We are also looking for people to bring desserts (bite sized desserts like cookies and brownies are ideal) for people to enjoy during the event.

Leadership Meetings
We will begin having monthly Leadership Meetings on the first Friday evening of the month starting in July (July 7)! These meetings will usually occur in person in Leffler Living Room, though they may sometimes occur on Zoom. Anyone who is interested in assisting with event planning and discerning where the time and energy of our ministry is spent is invited to join us! Contact Michael Seewer (mseewer@saintmarks.org) for details.

Book Club
Several friends of QuiC have said it would be great if we could have a book club. To make this happen, it would be good to have a few people who might like to take the lead on getting this started!
If you might have interest and bandwidth for this, please reach out to Michael Seewer (mseewer@saintmarks.org) to discuss scheduling and planning for this. Thank you!

Coming Out Stories
Would you like to help plan some QuiC "Coming Out Stories" events starting in September? Several people have said this would be a welcomed event to host. We would gather one evening to hear a person's coming out story, and have time for fellowship and friendship as well. We are looking for two or three people to help lead and plan how and when we might plan these.
