Areyvut
Inspire Jewish youth to give of themselves...
February 2014
Dear Friends,

I'm so sorry for the hurried subject line but I'm just bursting with excitement to tell you all some of what has been happening at Areyvut this past month! We have had program after program and could not be more happy about it. From A Teen Philanthropy Experience, to Mitzvah Clowning, Follow the Leader, and more, we have brought Areyvut programming to communities throughout New Jersey and New York. Keep on reading for even more news...
Mitzvah Clowning For All!
This January, we launched our Mitzvah Clown core group in the MetroWest area. Our wonderful new clowns had their first site visit at Lester Senior Housing and they made such an impact on the home's residents. The clowns were unbelievable- and it was only their first day!

We also launched our new Mitzvah Clown core group in East Meadow. Headed up by Areyvut board member Bruce Lish and his children, this new group will be bringing happiness to individuals throughout Long Island.

We also continue to have regular site visits in Bergen County, and are especially excited to be launching a Mitzvah Clown program for Bikur Cholim of Greater Washington in March 2014.

If you want more information on how you can bring this incredible intergenerational
chesed to your community, please email daniel@areyvut.org
A Teen Philanthropy Experience
As part of the Jewish Education Project's Westchester Jewish Teen Learning Initiative, Areyvut has brought A Teen Philanthropy Experience to Temple Shaaray Tefila in Northern Westchester. Teens come together for the purpose of allocating funds. They learn valuable leadership skills, all about the needs of their community, and the importance of philanthropic giving. At the end of the course, the teens will donate their funds to an organization or agency of their choice.

Mitzvot of MetroWest
Areyvut was pleased to take part in Mitzvot of MetroWest, an event tailored to pre-Bar and Bat Mitzvah students and their families to find a Mitzvah project for the big day! Incorporating acts of chesed, tzedakah, and tikkun olam is an important component of the celebration, so students come with their parents to find a project that truly interests them. Over 300 families came to Mitzvot of MetroWest and we were thrilled to have the opportunity to meet with these future Bar and Bat Mitzvah celebrants!

About Areyvut
Areyvut's mission is to infuse the lives of Jewish youth and teens with the core Jewish values of chesed (kindness), tzedakah (charity), and tikkun olam (social action), so that they become thoughtful, giving members of the Jewish community of tomorrow.

We offer day schools, congregational schools, synagogues, community centers, and individual families with a variety of opportunities to help them make these core values real and meaningful to their children.
