Wow what a summer and it's just getting started! We sure hope everyone is staying cool and staying safe with these unprecedented extreme weather events. And what an amazing race this past weekend at Western States! Congrats to everyone who toed the line, volunteered, crewed, paced and worked there! It was really cool and inspiring to spectate from afar! And the weekend prior to that we had a fun and successful day at Millersylvania 50K/30K/10K in Olympia, WA and simultaneously the new race directors for the John Cappis 50K reported that they had a very good day there too in Silverton, CO! <3
We wanted to reach out with some updates. We've got good news and bad news. As it currently stands it looks like we'll be able to do all of our summer, fall and winter races with one exception: Beacon Rock. And with the Oregon Coast 50k/20mi we're likely going to have to get creative but should be able to still have a fun event!
Here's a super quick run down of the rest of our 2021 race calendar and a look ahead to winter 2022...

We finally got approval from the Forest Service to hold this race! Phew! We are still working out a few logistical details but we fully expect this race to happen. Runners who chose to rollover from 2020 will be getting an email very soon with how to complete the rollover process and get registered for this year's race. We'll update the website with details specific to this year very soon. And registration for a limited number of spots in the race will be open to the public sometime this week. Stay tuned for more info!

We are super bummed to have to cancel this race. Unfortunately we were unable to work with the state park to find a suitable way to do the race and get a permit this year. We explored alternate routes, alternate dates, alternate start/finish location and sadly no option was viable.
Runners who had rolled over from the 2020 race are given the same options they were given in 2020, they can choose from the following options:
100% Rollover to 2022 or 2023
100% Credit to another Rainshaow Race
Donate the entry to Rainshadow

At this time we are hopeful that this race to happen but things are still tentative. The bridge across Amanda Creek on the Amanda Trail still has not yet been repaired and the repairs are scheduled to begin in early October and those repairs will likely result in at least a partial closure of our race route in a place where our options for other routes are limited. We are considering a course re-route or other options, including a possible date change, to still allow us to hold this race this year. Stay tuned for more info (maybe later this week)! Runners who chose to rollover from 2020 will be getting an email very soon(once key details are worked out) with how to complete the rollover process and get registered for this year's race.
More Details about our Fall and Winter Races (Deception Pass 25K, Orcas 25K, 50K, and 100M and Gorge Waterfalls 100K/50K):
At this time we believe it's likely that ALL of these races will happen. Even Gorge! And look for registration to at least Deception Pass and Orcas to open soon. Please note that the dates for for Orcas are a bit different than in the past, each race will now take place one week earlier in the year than we've been doing the past few years. More details about all of these races real soon, stay tuned!
