Take Action to Support HB1828 to Eliminate Out-Of-Pocket Costs for Diagnostic & Supplemental Breast Imaging

After a delayed start, the 2025 Virginia General Assembly is now in full swing this week and we are hitting the ground running!

VBCF's priority legislation, HB1828, will be heard in the House Labor & Committee subcommittee tomorrow afternoon, Tuesday, January 14th. We need VBCF advocates to show their support for this bill ASAP!!

HB1828 would eliminate the high out-of-pocket costs (co-pays, co-insurance or deductibles) that many patients face when getting follow-up diagnostic or supplemental breast imaging - including diagnostic mammography, ultrasound, and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging). By removing the financial barriers to medically necessary follow-up breast imaging, HB1828 ensures that no one faces the impossible choice between their health and their finances. For more information about the bill see: HB1828 FACT SHEET

You can help support this bill by taking action ASAP!

ACTION NEEDED by Noon tomorrow, Jan 14th

Here is a sample message:

"I am calling/writing as a constituent of Delegate [insert name] from [insert city/town] to ask him/her to support HB1828 which will be heard in the Labor and Commerce Subcommittee [today/tomorrow]. This bill would protect patients from expensive out-of-pocket costs for medically necessary diagnostic mammograms, ultrasounds, or MRIs.  Eliminating financial barriers to accessing diagnostic breast imaging can ensure earlier detection of breast cancer and save lives."
