What would you do if you'd already taken your children and fled your abuser once, only to be found and have to move again?
For Stephanie and her kids, moving again was simply out of their budget, although it was manda. Their church allowed them refuge in their youth house, but that was just a temporary fix. The church contacted the DRC, and our case manager Jessica sprang into action.
Because of your support, the DRC was able to partner with CPS and a local congregation to assist the family in moving to a new home complete with furniture and household items, have all utilities turned on, and offer rental assistance for the next six months.
Stephanie and her children still receive services through the DRC's Homeless Victims Advocacy Project for children and adults to help them heal. They are meeting all the requirements from CPS to have their case closed, and CPS continues to monitor their abuser.
