LPS Announces
Retiring Class of 2021
As the 2020-2021 school year officially begins to draw to a close, Liberty Public Schools has announced the Retiring Class of 2021. Unfortunately, the annual Retirement Program/Reception in 2020 was forced to be held in a fully virtual format. As COVID-19 restrictions have been reduced in recent months, LPS is excited that we will be able to host an in-person event to honor all retirees choosing to attend. The program will begin at 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at the Liberty High School Performing Arts Theater. Due to continued restrictions on indoor capacities, attendance will be limited, with staff, families, and community members encouraged to watch the event live on the Liberty Public Schools YouTube channel.
"I cannot express how excited we are to be able to recognize and thank our retirees for their loyal service to Liberty Public Schools," said LPS Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Tucker. "This will be our first District-level in-person event held since prior to the pandemic, and we can't think of a better event to be able to celebrate these amazing individuals."

Sapphires are National Champions Again!
The Liberty High School Dance Team, the Sapphires, competed in the UDA Virtual National Dance Team Championships winning first in both Small Varsity Pom & Small Varsity Jazz. The team also came in second for Large Varsity Game Day. UDA NCTC is a well-established national dance team competition and has been in existence for 38 years. In only 7 years of attending this competition, the Liberty Sapphires have made a name for Liberty High School and placed Liberty, Missouri, on the map! These are the first national titles for the Sapphire program; this accomplishment is truly an impressive feat. The Sapphire team is honored and humbled to be ranked among the best of the best in the country, and the team hopes to have the opportunity to return to compete in person next year. Congratulations to the Liberty Sapphires and all of the Sapphire alum who paved the way!
Dancers include: Storm Alicie (captain), Sofia Berman, Taygen Brown, Alana Bryson, Olivia DiGiovanni, Avery Hastings, Ava Hunt, Natalya Knoke (captain), Katie Mackie (captain), Morgan Magel, Reese McFather, Sara Pfannenstiel, Kellen Reeve, Giuliana Siraguso, Alina Valencia, Keegan Ward (captain) and Riley Willis. HOPE Award Ceremonies Now Available for Viewing
The Liberty Education Foundation hosted two incredibly powerful and inspiring HOPE Award ceremonies on both Tuesday evening, April 27, and Thursday evening, April 29, at the Liberty High School Performing Arts Center.
Since 1996, the Foundation has recognized students who display exceptional attitudes and actions, inspire others, and make their schools and communities better places with HOPE Awards. Each elementary and secondary school in the LPS family nominates a recipient for the Personal Initiative, Courage, and Humanitarian awards, and secondary schools also select recipients for the Integrity and Community Service awards.
