Event Updates
Nixa High School:
- Girls Varsity/JV basketball at Neosho has been rescheduled for Saturday, February 12 at 3 p.m. at Neosho High School.
- JV/Varsity boys basketball for Wednesday, Feb. 9 has been canceled and rescheduled for Wednesday, February 16. Hall of Fame inductions have also been rescheduled for that night at approximately 8 p.m.
- The Nixa vs. Carthage boys basketball game that was canceled on Feb. 8 is rescheduled for Saturday, February 12 at 3 p.m.
- Nixa Junior High Spring Pictures have been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 22.
Inman:
Block Kids Lego competition has been rescheduled for Saturday, February 26 at Inman.
Espy Elementary:
PTA Meeting at Espy is rescheduled for Thursday, February 10, at 4 p.m.
Nixa Junior High:
Nixa Junior High Spring Pictures have been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 22.

JROTC Moves Forward in National Competition
Six Nixa High School JROTC students have made it into the semi-finals of the CyberPatriot competition. 660 high school teams nationwide competed in four rounds starting in September. Teams had to identify and repair vulnerabilities in computer servers (Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Windows 2008, and Ubuntu). Vulnerability categories included user and group security, virus and malware, software updates and patches, file and folder configuration and more. The semifinals are being held in Orlando, Florida on February 17 and 18. A special thanks to the Air Force Association for paying for all expenses of this trip for the students and sponsors.
Congratulations to Michael Fox, Kris Hulsey, Jason Poole, Andrew Martin, Gabriel Gill and Micheal Kinsworthy for making the semi-finals.

Debate Students Make Top 8
Congratulations to Nixa High School debate students Nick Erwin, Devon Smith, and Ayushi Shrivastava who are in the "Top 8" teams in the world. They will compete in the finals in New York City in April. Good luck!

- K-4th grade Nixa elementary night - students attending Thomas, Espy, Century, Mathews, and High Pointe will get in free with a paid adult admission.
Tuesday, February 15 at 6:00 p.m. - JV/Varsity Boys Basketball vs. Ozark
- 5th/6th grade Future Dirty Bird night - Nixa students who attend Summit Intermediate and Inman Intermediate will get in free with a paid adult admission
- Senior night for boys basketball, cheerleading, and glitter girls dance team

Inman & Summit Night
The "Inman & Summit" night at the Nixa High School JV/varsity basketball game will take place Tuesday, Feb 15. JV starts at 6 p.m. gates open at 5:15 p.m. The first 50 students will get a free t-shirt (all will have free admission).

Scholastic Book Fair
The Nixa Junior High Book Fair will be Feb. 16 - 24 from 7:15 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. in the junior high library. (Feb. 22 & 24 open until 7 p.m.).

Haist Signs To MSSC
Kelsey Haist signed her letter of intent to play soccer at Missouri Southern State College on Monday.

Positive Parenting Meeting
The Positive Parenting meeting for Thursday, February 10, has been canceled. Please grab a friend and join us on March 10 from 6:30-8 p.m. for a combined workship focused on "Me, You, and Us Time" and "family Fitness." Remember that childcare and light snacks will be provided. Returning parents, please bring your "tool boxes" for updating.

Project Graduation Meeting
The NHS Project Graduation 2011 meeting scheduled for Wednesday, February 9 has been rescheduled for next Wednesday February 16 from 8 - 9 p.m. in Aldersgate House at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

Honor Flights
Thank you to everyone who has helped out with the Nixa High School history department's Ozarks Honor Flight fundraisers. So far, the students in the high school have raised $2600 in their change war and the history department raised over $700.00 at the Applebee's pancake breakfast. Below are opportunities to help the high school support this great cause.
- Tuesday, February 15: Nixa vs. Ozark boys basketball game: Donations will be accepted and Turk Seeley will be speaking at halftime
- Sunday, February 27 from 2-4 p.m.: Volunteers needed at Remingtons to help with the banquet for the vets and guardians that have already been on an Honor Flight. Contact Greg Kemper (gregkemper@nixaschools.net) to volunteer.
- Saturday, March 26 between 8:00-10:00 a.m.: Nixa Applebee's Pancake Breakfast

PTA Reflections RescheduledThe Nixa Council PTA Reflections Showcase will be held on February 28 at High Pointe Elementary. The program begins at 6:30 p.m. There will be a slideshow presentation of all entries proceeding to State. Students will receive a medal or ribbon to commemorate their participation and some students will perform selected entries. If your student received an invitation and has an entry moving forward to the State level of competition, please RSVP to Rebecca Wilson at wilsonslodge@yahoo.com.

Volleyball Academic All-StateCongratulations to the members of the Nixa High School volleyball team who were named "Academic All-State." To qualify, a varsity player (any grade level) must have competed in at least 75% of the team's total varsity matches with a cumulative 3.6 grade point average after first semester 2010-11.

Thomas Dance RescheduledThe Thomas Elementary Valentine Dinner/Dance that was scheduled for Friday, February 11 has been postponed. This event will be rescheduled.

High Pointe Events All Pro Dad Breakfast is February 11 from 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. The theme this month is "Helping your Kids Academically." Check out the new website at www.allprodad.com/dd/2354.
High Pointe Valentine Parties will be February 11. If you are interested in helping out with our school-wide party, contact Cindy Kramp at cindy_kramp@hotmail.com.
Food Drive High Pointe is having a Food Drive for Least of These until February 18. Please send any non-perishable food items to school with your child or feel free to bring them the night of the dance. Items needed include: dish soap, hand soap, laundry detergent, toilet paper, pancake mix, corn muffin mix, jello, tomato sauce, pork n beans, Hamburger Helper, and cereal.
Winter Dance The High Pointe Elementary Character Council Dance will be held Friday, February 11 from 6-8 p.m. in the High Pointe gymnasium. Snacks will be available for purchase in the multi-purpose room. Tickets are $1 at the door per person. Children under 3 are admitted free and the maximum price per family is $5. Coach Graham will be our D.J. Come join the fun this Friday!

District Duel: Toss the Tigers
The second-annual Nixa vs. Ozark "District Duel" on March 1. Purchase your District Duel "Toss the Tigers" t-shirt now. The District Duel is co-sponsored by NHS PTSA and Ozark High School Staff in support of Nixa and Ozark Project Graduation. Competitions begin at 6:30. Admission to the fierce competitions pitting Nixa district staff against Ozark district staff is $5 for adults & $3 for students. Please come out to support Project Graduation and enjoy a really fun family night out!
Come early at 5:30 p.m. and enjoy a gourmet chili dinner including dessert and drinks for only $5.

Community News: Nixa Community Center Gym Closed The Nixa Community Center basketball courts will be closed from February 21 to March 14 for gym floor repairs. If you have any questions, please contact the Nixa Parks Department.

Academic Hall of Fame Nixa Public Schools is now taking nominations for the 2011 Nixa Academic Hall of Fame. To nominate someone, they must have graduated from Nixa in the class of 2001 or earlier and meet the criteria on the nomination form. All entries must be returned or postmarked by March 4, 2011. Please return these to Zac Rantz, Nixa Academic Hall of Fame, 301 S. Main St., Nixa, MO 65714 or email zacrantz@nixaschools.net.
If someone was nominated in 2010 and were not inducted, they will automatically be considered for 2011.

Eagles Nest Eagles Nest is a clothing bank for all Nixa Schools students. It is located on the north side of the junior high track concession stand. Their hours are Tuesday 5-7 p.m. and Wednesday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If school is closed, The Eagles Nest will be closed.
