She's Back!! Announcing Celebrity Guest Speaker and Instructor Gudrun Erla of GE Designs!
You all loved Gudrun when we had her out last year, so we are bringing her back!! Last time she worked with Strip your Stash and 2-1/2 inch strips. This time she has her latest book and ruler with her that focus on 10 inch squares to show you all the tricks! Come to our lecture, one of our workshops, or do a "full immersion" weekend! But come and learn the Stripology Squared techniques! Details are below!
Gudrun Erla, the designer and owner of GE Designs, as well as designer of the Creative Grids Stripology Ruler, was born and raised in Iceland. She started quilting at the age of 23 and became totally addicted to it right away. After owning and running quilt shops in her home country and designing patterns along side it, a career move brought the family to Minnesota in 2003. Since then Gudrun has been designing full time, publishing patterns and books from her home office in Chanhassen, MN; where the family has been living since the move to the US.
Gudrun loves everything quick and simple, so her quilts might look more complicated than they really are. She loves to find ways to do things quicker and use easier methods. Her "quilt-as-you-go" patterns have been very popular, with easy to follow instructions and quick assembly and finishing. We have been featuring these patterns and books in our shop from our very first days almost 10 years ago!! All her patterns are geared toward today's quilt makers, easy and fast with a modern touch.
The celebrated author of many books we have featured in our shop including Strip Your Stash, Stripology, Stripology 2, Fast and Furious Holiday, Learn to Quilt as you Go, Big Blocks, Big Style, as well as the iconic Quilt as You Go Braid Runner Pattern, now brings us the "Stripology Squared" Book and the Stripology Squared Creative Grids ruler, both featured in her workshop and lecture!!

Stripology Lecture and Trunkshow, featuring the new Stripology Squared Quilts and ruler!
Gudrun has been collecting strips since she started quilting. Since then she has designed and published multiple strip patterns and books. She has also designed a ruler called the Stripology ruler which makes stripping so much easier, accurate and efficient. Now she has added the Stripology Squared book and ruler to her repertoire! This lecture will take you through her fabric collecting process, how she chooses fabrics for her quilts, color combination and choices in scrappy quilts and how to choose background fabrics and accents to pull your scrappy goodness together. She will take you through the thought process behind the Stripology and the Stripology Squared ruler, as well demos, and of course show you multiple quilts along the way!

This is a hands-on workshop that will guide you in looking at your fabric in a new way. Start with a layer cake, or stash, give leftover precut 10" squares and fabric cuts new life, and make something new and fabulous!
The focus of the workshop is on 3 different patterns featured above - Amalie, Valerie, and Nellie. Learn the methods for all 3 designs and then choose one to work on one in class!! The project choices for this workshop can be made in multiple sizes. The Stripology Squared ruler will also be discussed and Gudrun will show you how to use this optional ruler to cut your fabrics fast and efficiently.

You can bust your stash with any of these quilts, perfect for those larger pieces of leftover fabric that you aren't quite sure how to use. Learn how to cut, sort, store, and use 10 in squares to make a variety of quilts in two or more sizes. Confidently pair fabric prints, using three no-fail strategies: controlled colorway, distinct blocks, or scrap crazies! Whatever your approach, you'll love stripping along with the popular pattern and fabric designer behind GE Designs. Gudrun Erla's quick yet impressive patterns only look complicated.
