Dear HPN,

Thanks for joining us again for another HPN Call Sheet Prayer Update. We never run out of wonderful people, creative projects and influential Hollywood issues to pray about and we are so thankful that you pray with us!

September is National Suicide Awareness Month, and we want to let you know that if you or someone you know is struggling with loneliness, depression, or even suicidal thoughts, the Bible says in Psalms 34:18:

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted

and saves those who are crushed in spirit."

Would you reach out and encourage those around you to receive prayer? We also have One-to-One prayer partnerships that you can APPLY for to get an HPN prayer partner. We want to see every Christian working in the Entertainment Industry to be encouraged, to grow in their faith, and receive prayer!

Golden Globes Returns to NBC

NBC announced Sept 20th that the network (and the Peacock streaming service) will bring back the televised ceremony on Jan. 10, more than a year after stepping back from the broadcast in the wake of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's racial exclusion scandal. Nominations for the 80th Golden Globes will be announced on Dec. 12. Let's be praying for wisdom for show planners and decision-makers to create a show that represents all of the talent that God has given to so many diverse people across the industry!

The Emmy's 2022

Thank you for praying for the Emmys. It were some unexpected events that night, but overall it was peaceful and celebratory. We continue to pray for the actors, producers, writers and directors in television, along with the crews, administrative staff and cable, network, and streaming executives. Television is one of the top most influential mediums on the planet and so we need to keep praying for them!

A Wonderful Comedy Show + Family Night Turnout!

We want to thank everyone who came out to our Upside Down Comedy Show + Family Night! The evening was a wonderful success with over 120 people there celebrating families, community, and comedy!

Kids enjoyed popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones by , face painting @kaytipillor_makeup, a balloon artist @therealsarahthompson, and even a martial arts demonstration by @brianseechan! We also had a wonderful kids program of music and dancing from Anthony and Tiffany Salerno, as well as crafts and stories. Everyone enjoyed fabulous raffle baskets, beautiful decor provided by @dzpartycreations, and dinner with old and new friends!

BEST OF ALL, were our comedians:

ABBOTT ELEMENTARY REVIEW

Quinta Brunson

We want to pray for Quinta Brunson (who just won her first Emmy this month), the creator of the successful TV series Abbott Elementary about a public elementary school whose teachers don’t have enough money or support and yet they press on to do their best for their students. This show is an example of ART reflecting LIFE and the influence that storytelling has on our society. Would you pray for Quinta, the writing staff, and the influence that their show is having on our society. May the Lord show up in the writer's room and shine through every storyline!

AVATAR Re-Release Hopes to Bring Movie Theater Resurgence

In our world today, films are released either in a movie theater, streamed on television, or both. The world famous director, James Cameron, who created Avatar, is re-releasing his film on Sept. 23rd because he believes that watching it in the theater is a much more powerful experience for the audience than watching it at home. Let’s pray for the influence of movies as we experience “the resurgence of the theater experience,” despite movie theater attendance being down about 20% from pre-pandemic levels.”

CNN Gets an Overhaul

Let’s pray for the CNN execs who are re-shaping the network through a complete overhaul of their vision, employees and content. As new CNN CEO Chris Licht starts making changes, CNN is being compared to a Chess game, due to all of the maneuvering of leadership there. CNN has a tremendous amount of influence globally through their writers, anchors and news stories. Like ALL news channels, we pray to have the Lord’s perspective, heart and words come out of the writers, producers and on-air talent. Let’s not get frustrated by certain news shows but pray for all of them and invite God to come in and touch the hearts of all the people involved in airing the world’s news!

Film Festival Season

It’s Film Festival time! For all you film lovers, let’s pray for the people behind the top films airing at Film Festivals in 2022. Let’s pray for Steven Spielberg, Woody Allen, Cate Blanchett, Colin Farrell and many other producers, writers, directors and actors who have completed their newest films and are releasing them at festivals, hopefully to be picked up by studios and distributors for global distribution. As these filmmakers commit to telling the stories that touch their hearts, may we ask God to pour into them and melt their hearts. As they affect us and our culture, we can affect their lives with God’s love!

Marcus Mumford

Let's pray for Marcus Mumford, who is a deep man of faith and an extraordinary talent, who has just released his new powerful solo album "Self-Titled". Marcus, who joined the group of artists with Karen at the Vatican earlier this month for the Vitae Summit, is stepping out bravely and singing about the abuse he experienced in his childhood, so that other people can find healing from their own abuse. We want you to pray that the honesty and vulnerability in his song will heal people across the globe. We are honored to know him and support his work as a singer/songwriter, in order to understand that "Art heals" and that he is using his music to "Shake it up" as Pope Francis recommended we do as artists.

Keep your eyes out for The Falconer, a new film about Tariq and Cai, two best friends who work together at a zoo, but their friendship is challenged when Tariq plans to steal animals from the zoo and sell them to save her sister from an abusive marriage.
