AOG Leader Statement

Well, here we are in April. The month of spring rain, diamonds and Autism awareness. Another month, another chance at making the impossible possible. Let me start off by commending all of you fellow neurodivergents for showing something great.

You've all shown an incredibly vital trait: resilience. Your resilience should never go unnoticed. Throughout everything harsh, aggravating or even monotonous, you all still come to these meetings and stay in touch with AOG. We all know how to adapt to this world without tainting our existing greatness. That right there is resilience.

As mentioned earlier, April is autism awareness month so let's all keep up that resilience. Help those like us find their voices. Be the light that shines through the fog of Autism assumptions. Things really can get better for this community, but it takes effort. Effort that's already being shown in meetings, personal shares, grant work and events.

We can make things better even if it's in areas that seem small. It's all about being there for each other. We're never alone in this battle. Keep fighting the good fight.

-Owen Keys, AOG/NARG Board member

Autistic Panel for April Hear From Each Other

The Autistics Are Talking — And This Time, You Can’t Blame Hollywood

It’s Autism Acceptance Month, and instead of hearing about us from movies, parents, or that one weird training you sat through in 2011, you get to hear from actual Autistics. We’ll share how things really are (the good, the bad, and the “oh, that explains a lot”), and you’ll get to ask us questions.

Tuesday, April 29th | 7:00 PM (Virtual)

Want to be on the panel? Tell us about it HERE

AOG's First Podcast

Coming Soon: AOG's First Podcast: Great Minds Think a Mike — Yes, We Have Opinions

We’re almost ready to drop our first-ever podcast episode. No, it won’t sound like a corporate webinar, and that’s exactly the point. Expect Autistics talking about real things, in real ways — unfiltered, unapologetic, and probably a little messy (on purpose).

Stay tuned. Listen when it’s out — on your own time, in your own way. We wouldn’t dare tell you how to do it.

We’re on the hunt for amazing humans to help us make a difference – all while working for the ultimate paycheck: good vibes and gratitude (aka, these are volunteer roles - for now). Check out what we need:

Group Leaders

  • Thursday Group (2 needed): Lead virtual, lively chats and activities for our Thursday support group. Bonus points if you bring snacks (just kidding...or are we?).
  • Women’s Group (1 needed): Empower and inspire neurodivergent women in a supportive, judgment-free zone, virtually and/or in person.

Leadership Roles

  • Media and Entertainment Coordinator (1 needed): Plan and curate entertainment that people will actually want to stick around for.
  • Grants Manager (1 needed): Love chasing money (legally, of course)? Help us secure funding by writing grant applications—bonus points if you can make a budget spreadsheet that doesn’t make us cry.
  • Board Governance Committee Leader (1 needed): Keep our board on track, make sure we follow the rules (the good kind, not the pointless ones). Must have an uncanny ability to make “governance” sound exciting.

Support Roles

  • Social Media Coordinator (1 needed): Channel your inner meme lord and help us create engaging content to boost our online presence.
  • Event Planners (2 needed): Bring your A-game (and color-coded calendars) to help us host inclusive, unforgettable events.
  • Staff and Volunteer Support Coordinator (1 needed): Be the kind, understanding human that our team can turn to when they need a pep talk, a safe space, or just someone to nod along while they vent. Must be a great listener, able to keep secrets (like a diary, but with better advice), and committed to providing nonjudgmental reflection.

Board Member - (All needed):

Not just a fancy title — you’ll help us make sure our board stays connected to the people we actually serve. Keep us honest, help spark new ideas, and bring the community’s voice into every board meeting (without falling asleep during the budget part).

If you’ve got a passion for neurodivergent advocacy, and some time to spare, we’d love to hear from you!

📧 Email us at: info@autismonthego.org

Autistics, neurodivergents, and other super-humans are strongly encouraged to reach out for these roles. Let us know which one you’re interested in – your cape is optional, but your enthusiasm isn’t.

🧡 Volunteer with us and make a difference (while earning infinite imaginary gold stars)! 🧡

Note: All roles and tasks at AOG are strictly neurosensitive and non-punitive (without punishment). This means you will only ever be asked to do what you can and are willing to do and nothing more, and that will always be okay. It also means you can try it out and stop at any time if it's not for you. There's literally no downside!

Autistic Leaders Program

🌟Calling All Autistic Leaders and Supporters🌟

Join the Autistic Leaders Program!

Autism On The Go is proud to announce the Autistic Leaders Program, designed by and for Autistic people. This is more than just a program—it's a movement to empower Autistic adults to step into leadership roles, strengthen our community, and create meaningful change.

We know that Autistics thrive when systems are designed to fit us, not the other way around. That's why this program is built on neurosensitive, non-punitive, and inclusive principles.

Program Highlights:

✅ Skill-building & personal growth

✅ Leadership opportunities across AOG’s programs

✅ Mentorship & peer support

✅ Space to design and lead your own community projects

✅ Continuous feedback and participant-driven evolution

Whether you want to step into leadership, share your lived experience, or help shape a more inclusive future for our community — we want you involved!

🌱 Why?

Autistics are too often left out of leadership and growth opportunities. We're changing that—together.
