Dear Friends, Family, and Fierce Advocates,
Something electric is happening at AOG. We're building more than programs.
We’re building power.
We’re building places.
We’re building a future where Autistics and other neurodivergent folks don’t just participate—they lead.
Over the past year, we’ve launched identity-based support groups, grown a vibrant virtual community, and made room for joy, voice, and unapologetic neurodivergence. But this is just the beginning.
Today, we’re thrilled to open up paid memberships—an opportunity for you to become a Founding Member of this unstoppable movement. For just $15/month or $150/year, you can help sustain the groups, events, and advocacy that are reshaping what inclusion looks like. Members will receive exclusive updates, insider perks, and a front-row seat to what’s coming next.
Because what’s coming next is big.
We're calling it Project 1—our boldest dream yet:
A physical community space by and for Autistics.
A home base for AOG.
| | |
A place for connection, leadership, and celebration—open to all, centered on us.
This won’t be a facility where people are “served.” It’ll be a space where we serve the world—by showing what Autistic-led, radically inclusive community can really look like.
We’re aiming to raise $100,000 for a down payment and startup costs. If you believe in this mission—if you've ever wished for a place like this—we’re asking for your pledge today. Big or small, every single dollar gets us closer.
Because Autistics are not burdens. We’re builders.
Let’s build something unforgettable.
In community and solidarity,
James Orman
Founder and Executive Director
Autism On The Go (AOG)

Project 1 – Our Boldest Dream Yet
Project 1 is our visionary plan to create a physical community space by and for Autistics—a vibrant, welcoming hub where neurodivergent people can gather, grow, and lead.
This space won’t just serve us; it will showcase what we bring to the world. It will be a coffeehouse, a creative commons, a mutual aid center, a leadership lab—all rooted in radical inclusion and powered by Autistic brilliance.
We’re raising $100,000 to make this dream real. If you’ve ever wanted a place where Autistics can be fully ourselves and part of something bigger, this is it. Be part of the foundation—pledge your support today.
People and business who pledge support at $5,000 or more will receive Lifetime AOG Membership, an email announcement and posting on our website of your support, and permanent physical recognition of their support by having their names listed on an engraved plaque to be installed onsite.
Help us build the future. Every dollar counts.

🚨 Now Accepting Legends:
VP & Secretary Needed!
We’re building a dream team—and we’re saving two of the most epic seats just for you.
Vice President of the Board (1 needed): Our right-hand renegade! Help steer the ship, boost morale, and step in like a boss when needed. Must love order and a little chaos, and be ready to back up our President with brains, bravery, and a calendar that doesn’t cry at the sight of meetings.
Board Secretary (1 needed): Keeper of the receipts (aka minutes), tamer of the agendas, and guardian of organizational memory. You’ll make sure things get documented, deadlines don’t disappear, and our board doesn’t drift into space. Bonus points if you can make note-taking look heroic.

🎲 Trey's Potluck Game Night:
A Win for Autistic Leadership!
Trey’s Potluck Game Night was an incredible success! From the laughter echoing over Apples to Apples battles to the joy of shared food and friendship, this event was a beautiful example of what happens when Autistic leaders are supported to lead in their own way.
We are so proud of Trey and deeply grateful to his mother and all the supporters who helped make this event such a welcoming, joyful space. Moments like these remind us why AOG exists—to empower Autistics to take the lead, build community, and show the world just how vibrant our leadership can be.

Not a Deficit, Just Different
What if the moment that brought your life into focus didn’t come at the beginning, but after the degrees were earned and the career was well underway? In this episode, Dan Baum talks with Darian Senn-Carter, Ed.D., professor and director of the Homeland Security and Criminal Justice Institute at Anne Arundel Community College (AACC), about how a late-in-life autism diagnosis reshaped his understanding of self—and redefined how he moves through the world.
Dr. Senn-Carter shares how the diagnosis helped him embrace differences as strengths and sparked a new chapter grounded in self-compassion, creativity and advocacy. From his journey through self-discovery to his work integrating autism awareness into education, Darian opens up about the intersections of identity, leadership and neurodiversity.
Learn how one diagnosis led to a children’s book and a deeper commitment to authenticity and inclusion. Whether you're an educator, ally or simply curious about how we come to understand ourselves, this episode offers a reminder: difference isn’t a deficit, it’s an opportunity. It’s a reminder that growth doesn’t follow a syllabus, and that sometimes the best version of you is the one you stop trying to “fix.”

Join the AOG Team!
We’re on the hunt for amazing humans to help us make a difference – all while working for the ultimate paycheck: good vibes and gratitude (aka, these are volunteer roles - for now). Check out what we need:
Group Leaders
-
Thursday Group (2 needed): Lead virtual, lively chats and activities for our Thursday support group. Bonus points if you bring snacks (just kidding...or are we?).
-
Women’s Group (1 needed): Empower and inspire neurodivergent women in a supportive, judgment-free zone, virtually and/or in person.
-
*NEW* BIPOC Support Group (1 needed): Hold space for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in our neurodivergent community. This is your chance to lead meaningful conversations, uplift unheard voices, and build a space where people finally feel seen. Cultural understanding, lived experience, and spicy group chat energy encouraged.
Leadership Roles
-
Media and Entertainment Coordinator (1 needed): Plan and curate entertainment that people will actually want to stick around for.
-
Grants Manager (1 needed): Love chasing money (legally, of course)? Help us secure funding by writing grant applications—bonus points if you can make a budget spreadsheet that doesn’t make us cry.
-
Board Governance Committee Leader (1 needed): Keep our board on track, make sure we follow the rules (the good kind, not the pointless ones). Must have an uncanny ability to make “governance” sound exciting.
Support Roles
-
Social Media Coordinator (1 needed): Channel your inner meme lord and help us create engaging content to boost our online presence.
-
Event Planners (2 needed): Bring your A-game (and color-coded calendars) to help us host inclusive, unforgettable events.
-
Staff and Volunteer Support Coordinator (1 needed): Be the kind, understanding human that our team can turn to when they need a pep talk, a safe space, or just someone to nod along while they vent. Must be a great listener, able to keep secrets (like a diary, but with better advice), and committed to providing nonjudgmental reflection.
Board Member - (All needed):
Not just a fancy title — you’ll help us make sure our board stays connected to the people we actually serve. Keep us honest, help spark new ideas, and bring the community’s voice into every board meeting (without falling asleep during the budget part).
If you’ve got a passion for neurodivergent advocacy, and some time to spare, we’d love to hear from you!
📧 Email us at: info@autismonthego.org
Autistics, neurodivergents, and other super-humans are strongly encouraged to reach out for these roles. Let us know which one you’re interested in – your cape is optional, but your enthusiasm isn’t.
🧡 Volunteer with us and make a difference (while earning infinite imaginary gold stars)! 🧡
Note: All roles and tasks at AOG are strictly neurosensitive and non-punitive (without punishment). This means you will only ever be asked to do what you can and are willing to do and nothing more, and that will always be okay. It also means you can try it out and stop at any time if it's not for you. There's literally no downside!
Need to build a resume and get references from amazing people?
You know where to find us!

🌟Calling All Autistic Leaders and Supporters🌟
Join the Autistic Leaders Program!
Autism On The Go is proud to announce the Autistic Leaders Program, designed by and for Autistic people. This is more than just a program—it's a movement to empower Autistic adults to step into leadership roles, strengthen our community, and create meaningful change.
We know that Autistics thrive when systems are designed to fit us, not the other way around. That's why this program is built on neurosensitive, non-punitive, and inclusive principles.
Program Highlights:
✅ Skill-building & personal growth
✅ Leadership opportunities across AOG’s programs
✅ Mentorship & peer support
✅ Space to design and lead your own community projects
✅ Continuous feedback and participant-driven evolution
Whether you want to step into leadership, share your lived experience, or help shape a more inclusive future for our community — we want you involved!
🌱 Why?
Autistics are too often left out of leadership and growth opportunities. We're changing that—together.
