Autism On the Go's
Quirk Alert - Vol XIV
| | |
Hello Friends,
Thank you for being part of AOG’s journey—from a small group of people who wanted to make a difference to a growing community empowered with the tools and support to actually do it. And do it we are.
This Labor Day, I invite you to reflect on what your labor means to you.
Too often we’re told:
-
Our labor isn’t ours to own.
-
We don’t deserve to work in ways that fit us.
-
We must labor only to survive, not to thrive.
-
Our labor isn’t “enough,” or we’re not doing enough of it.
But instead of asking what our labor means to others, let’s ask: What does my labor mean to me? How does it bring meaning, connection, or joy to my life?
When I asked myself this, I thought instantly of my labor with AOG. From Thursday night meetups to in-person events to programs designed by Autistics and made accessible to all, the work we do together embodies the struggles and victories of the labor rights movement. When people truly own their labor and choose how to use it in supported ways, we don’t just change ourselves—we change the world.
So this Labor Day, take a break if you can. Imagine a world where owning your labor isn’t just a dream—it’s a lived reality. And join us at AOG in making that vision possible.
You can support this work by:
Every dollar goes directly to Autistics and neurodivergent people, or to the programs and services that sustain us.
Be well and keep supporting each other.
James O.
Founder & Executive Director, AOG

Huge Thank You for an Amazing Town Hall!
A big thank you to everyone who came out for AOG's very first Town Hall!
We had the chance to:
-
Hear from a powerful panel of Autistics about what it means to share our experiences in our own voices, rather than having others speak for us.
-
Learn from a presentation on creating and joining your own spaces with support.
-
Listen to community members share what life looks like for them right now.
It was a moving and energizing gathering, and we hope you had as great a time as we did!
✨ Mark your calendars: Our next Town Hall will be on Sunday, October 26th at 4 PM. We can’t wait to see you there!

Program Highlights:
✅ Skill-building & personal growth
✅ Leadership opportunities across AOG’s programs
✅ Mentorship & peer support
✅ Space to design and lead your own community projects
✅ Continuous feedback and participant-driven evolution
Whether you want to step into leadership, share your lived experience, or help shape a more inclusive future for our community — we want you involved!
