Issue 21
FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Dear Fisher Families,

I hope you all enjoyed our three day weekend and allowed yourself an extra day of rest.

We returned on Tuesday to high winds and unseasonable conditions. We are grateful that we were able to support those students without power and internet, on campus. It is always nice to see our students, although I wish it were under better circumstances.

As you are aware, the new state guidance provided by the California Department of Public Health and Governor Newsom has again changed our metrics for a safe return. Thus, we will be shifting our COVID-19 testing focus to our 6th graders for the short-term. If you are a 6th grade parent, please consider registering your child for a COVID test. Registration information was sent out Friday, 1.15.21 and again on Tuesday, 1.19.21.

As of today, the Santa Clara County COVID-19 casecount is 33.6/100,000. Our 6th graders will be able to return safely to campus once we reach 25/100,000. Further, our 7th and 8th graders will be able to join us once Santa Clara County reaches 7/100,000. We use this link to assess the County case count:

Please know that we are actively planning for our students’ return, pending direction from our Board based on our safety data. Your careful attention to all of these communications is essential. Please reach out with any questions you may have (mlonhart@lgusd.org).

As always, thank you for your continued support. Take care and stay well.

Mary Lonhart
Principal

FISHER COMMUNITY SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT
The Fisher Home & School Club wants to thank this week's
Community Sponsor for their generosity.
Kumon is a structured, individualized, proven learning program that gives your child the critical thinking skills and the mindset to learn new materials independently. The Kumonmath program begins with counting and ends with advanced applications of calculus. Our reading comprehension program starts by developing pre-reading skills and progresses to critiquing analyses of literary works.

It's not too late to become a Community Sponsor! For more information,
check the Community Sponsor information page.
LIBRARY CORNER
Fisher families: The Fisher Library has new "Activities to Go" kits for January! This month's craft is a Torn Paper Mosaic (examples included below). Take a break from screens and try a new craft with all the materials you need. Or, if the new year has you ready to experience something new, request a Grab Bag! Grab Bags contain 3 specially selected books in the genre of your choice -- but the titles are a surprise until you open the bag. Try a different genre, or read something new this week!

Library books, Grab Bags and Activity Kits are available for pickup every Wednesday afternoon from 2-3 pm and Friday mornings from 8-9 am in front of the Fisher main office. Books and kits must be requested in advance. Browse the Alexandria catalog, then put your choices on hold. You will get an email notification (usually within 24 hours) that your books and/or activity kit is ready for curbside pickup.
