FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Dear Fisher Families,

What a great week! It has been so lovely to have students on campus for Break and Lunch. We are happy to see so many new, smiling faces and are grateful to see many of our electives up and running on campus. Next week will bring us another new group of students which will be great.

Beginning May 3rd, we will be combining cohorts, so all of our current Roomers will be attending school daily through the end of the school year. We will continue to follow the academic schedule we are currently doing. We are looking forward to this transition.

Beginning May 10th, we welcome your student to stay for lunch! There is no formal RSVP needed, just be sure to discuss your pick up/getting home plans with your child for that day. Students who are not staying for an afternoon elective are dismissed from lunch at 12:45pm Please see the schedule below:

Mondays=8th
Tuesdays=7th
Thursdays=6th

As always, we thank you for your continued support! We are looking forward to a strong end to our school year.

Take care and stay well.

Mary Lonhart, Principal
TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK CELEBRATION
The students are back on campus! Our teachers are working double time to teach Roomers and Zoomers and doing a great job accommodating our students' needs. Your donation of $13 will sponsor one teacher lunch and demonstrate our community's support of these fabulous educators.

Donations for one (or more!) lunches can be made using our ThankATeacher form.

DAILY EARTH WEEK ACTIVITIES
Each day will focus on a specific way that Fisher students can make a difference in helping the environment.

  • Meatless Monday: Students will try to have one meal or whole day without meat. The school Grab n Go lunch will be veggie too!

  • Trash Free Tuesday: Students will all bring trash free snacks and think about the same for all their meals that day. This means no disposable wrappers, no Ziploc bags, no straws, and no juice boxes. Items for composting are permitted. Rinsed milk cartons are recyclable! TOTALLY TRASH FREE. Think about all the ways that you can RECYCLE, REUSE, REDUCE.

  • Walk & Roll Wednesday: On this day students are encouraged to walk, ride or roll to somewhere rather than using the car. Courtesy of Safe Routes to School, there will be a Scavenger Hunt that you can do or you could do a neighbourhood trash collection.

  • Turn-Off Thursday: On this day kids are encouraged to use less water and electricity. By turning off your tap while brushing your teeth, having shorter showers or watering the garden in the early morning or evening you can save water. Turning off lights and unplugging appliances, reducing the use of heating or air conditioning reduces electricity.

  • Freaky Friday: On this day students and staff can wear green and BE green for the final day of Earth Week. Show your support for the planet and the ways that we can all make a difference!

THURSDAY APRIL 22 IS EARTH DAY!
In addition to "Turn-Off Thursday", Fisher will be celebrating "Meat Free for Mother Earth" by providing veggie Grab n Go lunches. If your student is eating at school, try and bring a veggie lunch to support making our planet a bit greener.

Important information, videos, facts, and activities about how these small changes can impact the earth can be found on the Van Meter HSC website.

FISHER COMMUNITY PROJECT
Dear Fisher Community,

I have a community project I would like to introduce you to. Last week, the old Los Gatos Little League scoreboard was found in an old storage container. It is believed to be the old scoreboard from Balzer Field that was used for 15-20 years. Some of you may even recognize it! The Little League Board would like to have the scoreboard restored to working condition as a piece of Los Gatos history, and to use during Whiffle-ball camps that are held here in Los Gatos.

The scoreboard is now on the Fisher Campus, thanks to some coaches, and I was hoping to enlist the wealth of talent out there to try to get this beast working once again. It needs electronic work, as well as a new paint job. If anyone is interested, we could get it delivered to wherever it needs to go, as no adults are allowed on the Fisher campus yet. If you are interested, or know of anyone who might be, please email me at kbrown@lgusd.org

Thank you,
Kim Brown
