FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Dear Fisher Families,

Thank you for your continued support! We are proud to report that the “combining of our cohorts” went quite well. It is so exciting to see all of the kids on campus and students enjoying each other’s company and their classes.

This week is Staff Appreciation Week! Feel free to thank a teacher or staff member who has made a difference in your child’s life. While this has been one of the most challenging years we have faced in education and in our lifetimes, I am grateful for the diligence and hard work of the Fisher staff to do their very best, every day for our students.

For our 8th grade families, I am pleased to announce that we will be hosting a graduation ceremony at Los Gatos High School on June 3rd. Please read the details elsewhere in this Flyer and join my Principal Chats for more information. We are grateful to LGHS for their generous support of our 8th graders and this time-honored tradition.

Enjoy this week of gorgeous weather. Take care.

Sincerely,

Mary Lonhart
Principal

CAASPP TESTING NOTICE

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Each year, students in grades three through eight and high school participate in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP).

This year, your child will take the following test(s):

  • Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments for English language arts/literacy and mathematics in grades six through eight.

The Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments are online tests that measure what your student knows and is able to do. The tests include many different types of questions that allow students to interact with the test questions. Results help identify gaps in knowledge or skills early on so your child can get the support needed to be successful in school.

Fisher Middle School will be testing Roomers on Thursday, May 13th and Friday, May 14th from 8:30-12:05 in their first period classrooms with their first period teachers.

Zoomers have the opportunity to join us at 11:15-3:00 PM on Thursday, May 13th and Friday, May 14th with an RSVP. The survey was sent to Zoom parents yesterday, April 27th.

You are an important part of your child’s education. To help your child get ready for the test you can:
  • Talk about the test with your child. Make sure they are not scared or anxious.
  • Tell your child that you and their teacher have high expectations and are both there to help, every step of the way.
  • Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and a nutritious breakfast before testing.

To learn more about the Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments, go to the California Department of Education Parent Guides to Understanding web page at https://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/ca/parentguidetounderstand.asp.
You also can look at sample test questions on the practice tests, which can be found on the CAASPP Web Portal at http://www.caaspp.org/practice-and-training/index.html.

If you have questions, please contact Assistant Principal, Clare Vickers, at Cvickers@lgusd.org.

Most sincerely,

Mary Lonhart
Principal
