FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Hello Fisher Families,

We are so excited about a few great things happening at Fisher! Teachers, staff and administrators have been hard at work during these constantly changing times to ensure a great educational experience for your child. 

First, we hope you and your child can join us for the Spooky and Spectacular Swag Bag Pick Up Day on Friday, October 23rd. It is a C Day, so your students will report to their 1st period class, and then join us at school, anytime between 9am-3pm. This is a DRIVE THROUGH event where materials will be handed to you through the car window. However, if your student is in costume and would like to participate in the costume contest, they will just pop out of the car for a quick photo in the designated area. We are really looking forward to seeing the students and hoping they join in the costume fun!  

Information about the Spooky and Spectacular Swag Bag event was sent in an email on Monday, 10.19.20. Please let us know if you have any questions. 

Secondly, we are finishing our first quarter of the 20.21 school year! With the fires, evacuations, smoke and all, it is amazing to see that our students and staff have held the course and come out stronger for it. We are all practicing perseverance, patience and kindness. As our district motto says, “Be Kinder Than Necessary.” During these challenging, ever-changing times, those are good words to heed. 

Thirdly, we are looking forward to the start of our new schedule on Monday, October 26th! I hope you were able to join one of the four Coffee Chats with me to hear more about the specifics. If not, that slide deck is available on our website. Feel free to email me with any questions you may have (mlonhart@lgusd.org). Below you will find the bell schedule that begins October 26th. Note a slight change in the morning bells. Additionally, please check out the brief video as further explanation of the schedule. Just remember, all students should report to their 1st period class at 8:30am Monday morning!

HALLOWEEN EVENT FOR ALL STUDENTS!
Spooky & Spectacular Swag Bag (& Other Stuff) Pick-Up Day AND Costume Contest Extravaganza!

Please join us on Friday, October 23rd, from 9 am-3 pm for fun and festivities! This is your chance to pick up your Fisher Swag Bag! Come see our principal, Mrs. Lonhart, dressed in her favorite Halloween costume! 
 
ITEMS THAT WILL BE DISTRIBUTED:
  • Choir sheet music
  • Music shirts for 6th graders
  • 7th grade science experiment supplies
  • Spanish workbooks
  • Color Swag Bag (Courtesy of Fisher Home & School Club)

WHEN:      
  • This Friday, October 23rd, from 9:00AM - 3:00PM

HOW:        
  • Bring a sign with your name, color, grade and electives.
  • Don't know your color group? Visit Fisher Life Classroom!

WHERE:    
  • Drive through the Fisher parking lot. Please see this map for the route.
                  
Additional drive through instructions are:
  • Enter parking lot on Fisher Ave and display your sign (described above) upon entry.
  • Choir and 6th grade music students will go into the first lot on the right as you enter campus.
  • Primary pick-up location will take place directly in front of the main office.
  • After primary pick-up, costume participants will be directed to 2nd parking lot closest to the gym where they will be directed to get out of their car with their name sheet to get a picture taken for the contest.

COSTUME CONTEST WINNERS will be announced on Wednesday, October 28th on KRJF!

Special Note!
Do you have something that needs to come back to Fisher? Overdue library books, last year's textbooks, anything else? If your fall cleaning unearthed some items you'd like to return, 
bring them on October 23rd and turn them in when you pick up your swag bag. 6th graders, we will even take library books from your elementary school, if you didn't have the chance to return them last spring!
PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
WE NEED YOUR HELP THIS FRIDAY!

We need volunteers to help us hand out our Spooky and Spectacular Swag Bags on Friday, October 23rd. Volunteers will be assisting Fisher Teachers and Staff by staffing tables for distribution of items. REMEMBER to wear your mask! Select this LINK for more information and to sign up to help.

Give a Gram Club
Are you interested in sharing your empathic nature with other kids in need? Join the Give a Gram club! This club will connect our students with other kids in the Bay area who are undergoing long-term hospitalization. It's a chance to brighten someone else's day while virtually reaching out with messages and notes of kindness.

Flight Club
If you're interested in airplanes, join Flight Club and get a flying start! We will discuss all things aviation, as well as build and share remote control airplanes.

LIBRARY NEWS!
Curbside pick-up from Fisher is open!

Curbside pick-up from the Fisher Library is available on Wednesday afternoons from 2-3 pm and Friday mornings from 8-9 am. Browse the Alexandria catalog for all the books the Fisher Library has to offer, then put your choices on hold for curbside pickup each week! This video will show you how to find and request books for curbside pickup.

You can also borrow e-books from the Fisher Library (and the Santa Clara County library system) using Sora. Check the library website for more information.

Special shout out to Ken't Top Notch Produce who is providing organic fruits and vegetables on Mondays with meal pick up while supplies last.
REMOTE LEARNING ATTENDANCE

Please contact Fisher Attendance for any of the following reasons during remote learning:

  • Your student cannot log into class — email the teacher and Fisher Attendance immediately. 
  • Your student was delayed logging into class.
  • Your student is absent, at an appointment, or leaving class early.

Be sure to provide the student’s full name and reason that s/he is absent or leaving class early. This will help us accurately track attendance. 

Please note: After 72 hours, any absence that has not been confirmed by a parent will be considered an unexcused absence.

Chromebook Reminder
All Fisher students should be using an LGUSD-provisioned Chromebook.  Students using devices other than the district-provisioned Chromebooks seem to be experiencing technical difficulties that we are unable to support.  Here is the link for requesting a loaner Chromebook: 6-8 Chromebook Loaner Request Form
